This past weekend, Seeds of Caring kids joined together to support our currently unhoused and marginally neighbors with 179 snack bags and donated over 600 books to their library📚 Check it out!🌟 These young leaders make The Open Shelter & things for our guests so much better!

The Little Caesars Love Kitchen stopped by and made a lot of hungry guests happy with delicious #pizza! Thank you for helping us #fighthunger! Serving nearly 4 million people, Love Kitchen trucks travel the United States providing relief to the food insecure, people without housing, disaster survivors, military and first responders.  #fyp #helpingothers #columbusohio #thankyou

We are so grateful to Ann Marie Frissora and her husband Mike for getting us over the hump with the Fraternal Order of Eagles for August Match Mania. But we also would like to thank them and the "Lunch Ladies" for providing over 600 sack lunches for those we serve the past few weeks! The Open Shelter has an August Match Mania Update...and it's a wonderful one! YOU not only met the $5000 match, but you blew by it!!!!! There are probably still donations coming in, but as of right now--- a total of $13,123.00 has been raised!!! That means The Open Shelter gets a $5000 gift promised by a loyal donor of ours! This puts the current total for August Match Mania at $18,123.00! This is only possible because of the generous support of so many! Ann Marie & Mike Frissora, were able to get the support of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Columbus Linden Aerie, who graciously donated $4000.00 to The Open Shelter for August Match Mania! We are grateful for Board Member James Alexander issuing a challenge to other Open Shelter Board Members, to the $5000 gift made by an anonymous donor, to over $1000 donated by neighbors of ours, to the $5000 pledge made that made August Match Mania possible to help homeless and marginally-housed men, women, and children. AUGUST MATCH MANIA STARTS NOW! WE NEED YOUR HELP! Summer is a slow time of year when it comes to raising funds. So far in 2024, we have served OVER 1700 men, women & children; 631 of whom live “on the streets”. Thanks to YOUR support, we have provided 33,742 sack lunches, 71,565 ‘to-go’ meals, 2,900 instances of clothing assistance, 1,059 hygiene kits, 874 instances of outdoor item assistance, and 545 bus passes. 33 men and women are part of our payeeship program, providing third-party money management to homeless & marginally housed persons.
