This November, Leashes of Valor (LOV) service dog Lavsky, will graduate and be paired with a Veteran in need.🐕🦺👏 Lavsky is named in honor of Capt. Michael Y. Tarlavsky, who sadly lost his life while serving in Iraq in August 2004. At the time of his passing, Tarlavsky was the Detachment Commander of the 1st Battalion, 5th Special Forces Group. Tarlavsky's inspiring story reflects the American dream; he emigrated from Latvia to the U.S. with his family at just five years old. Always aspiring to be a soldier, he attended college on an R.O.T.C. scholarship and earned a commission as an Army infantry officer. Thanks to the generous support of a Patriot Fund donor, all of Lavsky's expenses—including food, training, and veterinary care—have been covered. We are deeply grateful for our Operational Partnership with Leashes of Valor and we are honored to keep Capt. Tarlavsky's legacy alive.❤ #1leashsaves2lives

We would like to personally thank Alex Cabezas, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey, and Braven Health for their utmost support to the Patriot Fund and further, the impact that they will have on the local Veteran community.👏 The generous donation made to fully pay for the training of a Leashes of Valor (LOV) service dog will be LIFE CHANGING for a Veteran in need! We look forward to following LOV's service dog's journey in the future!🐕🦺💙
On Sunday, I was lucky enough to attend The Annual Patriot invitational and was moved and inspired by the support The Patriot Fund, Inc. provides to Veterans in need of services related to mental health and other issues they may be facing. Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey Braven Health Jonathan R. Pearson, MNA generously donated funds to acquire a service dog for a veteran in need from Leashes of Valor . I was also inspired by the story of Chief Warrant Officer 2 Nick Lavery , "considered the first Special Forces operator to return to combat as an above-the-knee amputee.

Story of Impact Spotlight: HELP OUR MILITARY HEROES INC 👏 SFC Chris Montera (Ret), US Army Veteran was wounded in March of 2012 in Kandahar, AFG when incoming enemy fire resulted in the detonation of demolition charges that were being placed by Chris’s team. This resulted in the loss of both of his legs above the knee, a TBI, spinal cord injury, and 2nd/3rd degree burns. But his healing and fight for independence continues today. Thanks to YOUR donations to The Patriot Fund, we were able to make this milestone moment a reality for a Veteran in need. It is only with donations like yours that HOMH is able to help Veterans regain their independence with adapted vans.❤

We are proud to announce that our 2024 Patriot of the Year Award will be presented to John and Lorie Ruga!👏 The financial support we garner from donors is greatly appreciated, but there are some, like John and Lorie, who truly go above and beyond. Inspired by the Patriot Fund Invitationals over the last few years, John and Lorie were motivated to host their own intimate event raising money for Veterans in 2023. On very short notice and weather conditions which forced the cancellation of a planned golf experience, over 100 people came in support of this couple’s passion for helping serve our Veteran community. ⭐ Our American Patriot of the Year Award is the Flagship of The Annual Patriot Invitational event. It recognizes the men and women who, through their actions and words similar to our great military Veterans, promote and carry out outstanding leadership skills during their lifetime.
