Physicians at The Permanente Medical Group are tackling systemic barriers to make vaccine uptake more equitable. Najeh Ahmad, MD MPH, chief of complex care at Kaiser Permanente's Roseville Medical Center, shares a few ways this approach is enhancing widespread vaccine adoption. Thank you, Dr. Ahmad! #TPMG #HealthCareEquity #PermanenteExcellence #PermMedInAction
✨Vaccines save lives. As a physician, who is also trained in public health, I am so proud of our organization commitment to prevent heart breaks from vaccines-prevented illnesses. Kaiser Permanente, powered by #PermanenteMedicine, deploys a system approach to ensure equitable access to vaccinations. Here are few of my observations of this comprehensive strategy to address various system factors influencing vaccine uptake: 1. Site Accessibility: Location: Ensuring vaccine sites are located in easily accessible areas in the facilities. Hours: Offering flexible hours that accommodate different schedules, such as weekends. Accessibility: Providing accommodations for individuals with disabilities, such as accessible vaccinations sites close to disabled parking spots. 2. Flexible Operational Support: Appointments: Offering walk-in to accommodate different preferences. Language Services: Providing interpreters and translated materials for individuals who speak languages other than English. 3. Reliable Education Materials: Accurate and Up-to-Date: Staff provide clear and accurate information about vaccines, including benefits, risks, and safety. Multiple Formats: Offering information in various formats, such as print, digital, and video, to cater to different learning styles. 4. Community Partnerships: Community Outreach: Collaborating with community organizations to reach underserved populations and address vaccine hesitancy. Targeted “hot spotting”: Allocating resources to areas with high rates of vaccine inequity to improve access and uptake. Cultural Competency: Ensuring that vaccine initiatives are culturally sensitive. By making vaccinations easily accessible to all, we can continue to save lives and livelihoods. https://lnkd.in/g7ZCtGHf #VaccinesSaveLives #Vaccine #Equity #HealthCare #Leadership #FluVaccine #CovidVaccine #Design #Community #Immunity #MakeTheRightCareEasyToDo #PermanenteMedicine #FolsomLake

Always great to see our physician leaders speak about the safe, innovative, high-quality, and accessible home care offered by our physician-led teams. Thank you Steve Parodi for sharing your insights at the #BeckersAnnualHITRCM Conference.
I was happy to join a panel discussion with Becker's Healthcare. I spoke about how innovative health systems are leading the way in delivering hospital-level care at home. At Kaiser Permanente, our physician-led care teams bring care to patients’ homes seamlessly and conveniently, without missing a beat. Supported by digital technology like remote patient monitoring and virtual visits, as well as home visits, we’re demonstrating that delivering high-quality, safe, accessible care at home is not only possible, but also the future of health care. #BeckersAnnualHITRCM #HospitalAtHome #DigitalHealth #HealthInnovation
