🌳 What is The Resilience Canopy? 🍃 The Resilience Canopy is a new nationwide movement to build strong and challenge-ready communities, able to adapt to future shocks and stresses. 🔗 We’re building a community of practice around self-led resilience. The Canopy connects communities with the skills they need to lead their own future ready plans and to a network of partners who can help deliver on those plans through investment, expertise or in-kind support. We’re looking for communities who are ready to build their resilience and for partners to join and provide support. 👟 The first step begins with our Resilience Practitioner Training. We’re upskilling and mentoring an Australia-wide network of community resilience practitioners to lead their communities on their resilience building journey and help tap into the networks that can help them. Why is this so important? All communities, but especially those with existing vulnerabilities, can stand stronger in the face of continued shocks and stresses when they're able to identify and work toward building resilience. About us
A nation-wide movement to build strong and challenge-ready communities. Moving beyond disaster preparedness, The Resilience Canopy is on a mission to advance community-led resilience in a new way. Communities know their challenges better than anyone. By helping them access the right skills, connections, resources and support, they have the greatest chance at withstanding and adapting to disruptions like natural hazards and societal stresses over the long term. The Resilience Canopy does this through bespoke training to develop practitioners, supporting communities to develop resilience plans and priorities, connecting corporate, government and not for profit partners to community priorities, and bringing it all together online. Find out more about how to become a Resilience Practitioner, or become involved as a partner in the program at: www.resiliencecanopy.com.au The Resilience Canopy is an Australian registered charity with headquarters in Naarm, Victoria. The Resilience Canopy will be delivered side by side with communities and partners, growing to reach a target of 500 resilient communities and 2000 practitioners by 2030. Thanks to financial support from major partners Minderoo Foundation, the support and resources from ResilientCo and the generosity of other Canopy partners, we can achieve our mission. #CommunityResilience #ResilientCommunities #ResilienceCanopy

💡 A network of resilience practitioners in your backyard? Sounds good, right? We’re seeking new cities, regions and towns across Australia to host Resilience Canopy Practitioner training during 2025 and 2026. 🤔 What’s involved with hosting? If you’re a government, non-profit, community organisation, business or peak body, you can ‘host’ the 4 session practitioner training in your location. This might mean arranging a venue, promoting the training locally and facilitating local connections to get the right people trained, or even funding places for people within your community to train - you choose. We cover the trainer costs and in some cases, the cost for people to attend the training. (Conditions apply) 😃 What’s in it for you? By training locals, the community will benefit from more people actively engaged in strengthening resilience at the grass roots and where it’s needed most. A network of your own local community will gain the tools and strategies necessary to thrive under social challenges and shocks, such as natural disasters. 👍 Interested to learn more? "We don't know what we're catering for, and who will be there, so we need a box of tricks for people to survive, so we can continue to exist if we lose power for days". A (paraphrased) reflection from Gordon of Warburton, VIC, last week as we talked to him about Warburton's decade-long journey into community-led resilience. Since 2010, members of Warbuton's community have made things happen for themselves - beginning with a fire danger sign, getting a relay transmitter so that they can hear 774 in an emergency, and making it possible to generate their own hydro-powered electricity. Warburton, continues resilience building with a community session today, deep diving into their challenges and strengths. What's next for them and their vision? Stay tuned as we follow with interest. Like Australia, Florida is no stranger to the frequent shocks of climate change. Given our own experiences, participants at our latest Collective Keynote were very keen to hear from the head of University of Miami Climate Resilience Institute, Michael Berkowitz. Full of aha-moments and thought provokers, Michael shared positive takes on the advances and innovations in global resilience work, as well as the reality bites. If you missed out on tuning in, visit our website (link below) to access the recording. https://lnkd.in/gUC2vjuX There are plenty of gems from this discussion, and Michael brings the perspective North American communities, offering insights that often align with the Australian experience.
