🎉 Congratulations to Colibri Fellow Jennifer Guadarrama for becoming one of the newest DOJ Partially Accredited Representatives! Congratulations to Chicago Volunteer Legal Services for receiving their Department of Justice Recognition! Did you know that for non-profit organizations to receive recognition from the Department of Justice they must also apply for an individual to get accredited? Colibri Fellows are paving the way for organizations and for future immigrant advocates to pursue careers as DOJ Accredited Representatives!

TRP’s Colibrí Fellowship for DOJ Accreditation has expanded! We are excited to announce that our partners @Equity Corps of Oregon (ECO) launched the Fellowship in Oregon, engaging 13 fellows from six organizations across the state. This is the first Colibrí Fellowship cohort outside of Illinois and the fourth cohort overall. TRP Immigrant Justice leaders and Colibrí alum were on hand in Oregon for the launch to offer training and share their experiences. TRP launched Colibrí 2022 to create legal career pathways and increase access to legal services for immigrants by training fellows for the Department of Justice (DOJ) Accreditation – a designation that enables non-attorneys to serve as legal representatives in immigration cases. In just two years, the Fellowship increased the total number of accredited representatives in Illinois by more than 10%. We are excited to bring this growth and community of passionate DOJ accredited representatives to Oregon and beyond! Thank you to our Colibrí partners: Professor Michele Pistone at Villanova University Interdisciplinary Immigration Studies Training for Advocates, Capaces Leadership Institute, UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS) @Oregon Worker Relief, and Clinton Global Initiative
