Three weeks away until Election Day, and ballots have dropped and been mailed to every registered voter in California! Which means the time is now to participate in our democracy and make sure you go out and vote by Tuesday, November 5th! If you want to know more about the people on your ballot and why they are running for local office, make sure to go and check out our exclusive interviews with the candidates running for office in the Greater Sacramento Region! We sat down for open, nonpartisan conversations, making sure everyone gets a fair shot to share their vision. Our mission? To bring these voices to communities that often miss out on hearing directly from the people who want to represent them! Check them out on our YouTube Channel: https://lnkd.in/gJav-fHx

Last night, our nonprofit organization (The Ring of Democracy) partnered with the Natomas Measure L Commissioners, Gardenland Northgate Neighborhood Association (GNNA), Stanford Settlement Neighborhood Center and YPCE - City of Sacramento to host a town hall with the goal of providing information and getting feedback from our community members regarding Measure L (Sacramento Children’s Fund). Great turnout and these are rooms you need to be in! Meet community members and network with decision makers/movers! Your presence and ability to build relationships matters.

Our final Leader is Rachelanne Rae Vander Werf (They/Them)! Rae Vander werf is a local labor leader who is Vice President of the American River Flood Control District. They are also the Vice President of the local California Association of Professional Scientists Union (CAPS UAW Local 1115). They are a strong labor leader in Sacramento, bringing that working class perspective to their role on the American River Flood District Control District! During their time, they have been able to usher in new policies that make the board more accessible to everyday people! Two ways the Flood Board have become more accessible have been officially having by district representation as well as continuing Board meetings being recorded to ensure people can still tune in despite the meetings still being held midday on Fridays! As we close out Pride month, make sure to follow @theringofdemocracy for more as we will continue to uplift and help empower our historically marginalized communities within the Sacramento Region! #PrideMonth #Pride #LoveisLove #Sacramento #TheRingOfDemocracy #LGBTQ
