As the climate crisis worsens, it is clear traditional forms of agriculture are no longer fit for purpose. Our global food system has led to water scarcity, biodiversity loss, diet related disease and erosion of farmer well-being, the effects of which equate to nearly $20 trillion each year. There needs to be a global transition to regenerative agricultural practices which prioritize the sustainability of our global food system. You can read our full report ‘Financing for Regenerative Agriculture’ here: https://lnkd.in/euTYhRx3 #RegenerativeAgriculture #SustainableDevelopment #ClimateChange

"When people discuss climate, they talk about the Amazon. And that's important. But we have to focus on the semi-arid areas too. Why? Because most climate migration will come from there. And those areas are very important to food security." - Carlos Magno As droughts become more frequent and severe across Latin America, #BigBets Climate Fellow Carlos Magno is leading a multi-country initiative to: - Ensure equitable access to water and land - Boost food security in vulnerable communities - Develop climate-adaptive agricultural technologies Discover how Carlos and our other #BigBets Climate Fellows are reimagining climate solutions across Latin America and the Caribbean. The climate crisis affects the future of young people, despite their minimal contribution to its causes. Their leadership is essential for accelerating climate action. On #InternationalYouthDay 2024, Plan International, with support from The Rockefeller Foundation, has launched the Youth Leadership Academy (YLA) for Gender and Climate Action addressing the urgent need for leaders in the Asia and Pacific (APAC) region to work together with girls and young people as leaders and influencers for climate action and climate justice. With the Foundation's support, Plan International will invest in 40 youth leaders (70% girls and young women) who are contributing to climate actions alongside their peers and communities in Indonesia, India, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand. This project will also elevate the voices of the most marginalized groups, such as indigenous communities and ethnic minorities, by bringing their concerns to policymakers, consulting with them to understand how best to add value, and supporting their efforts to achieve positive changes.
