Echo the importance of enhanced nutritional knowledge among physicians. Kudos to TKC authors for identifying and publishing the vital nutrition competencies needed by physicians to competently advise patients.
🎉 We’re thrilled to announce that TKC Director of Research, Jennifer Massa, ScD, TKC Founder and Senior Advisor, Dr. David Eisenberg, TKC Board Member Linda Shiue, MD, Chef, DipABLM, and so many TKC Organization Members, Advisory Committee Members, and partners, along with Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health published a pivotal study recommending 36 essential nutrition competencies for U.S. medical students and physician trainees! This research addresses a crucial gap in medical education: the lack of nutrition training for future doctors. Conducted by an expert panel of medical and nutrition professionals led by Dr. Eisenberg, the study outlines the vital competencies needed for physicians to effectively advise patients on nutrition and food choices. In a world facing increasing diet-related diseases, the TKC, along with the Vitamix Foundation, the David R. and Margaret C. Clare Foundation, the Shaich Family Foundation, and the Ardmore Institute of Health, is proud to have supported this important work. 👉 Read the full study in JAMA Network Open here: https://lnkd.in/gceHFWex #teachingkitchens #nutritioneducation #medicaleducation #nutritioncompetencies #nutritionforphysicians Emily Broad Leib, Lexi Cole, MS, MPH, RD, CCMS, Trevor Findley, Jaclyn Albin, MD, CCMS, DipABLM, Hope Barkoukis, Kofi Essel, MD, MPH, FAAP, Beth Frates, MD FACLM DipABLM, Aviad Haramati, Amy Locke, Wesley McWhorter, DrPH, MS, RDN, LD, CSCS, Kate Shafto, Terri Stone MD FACP DipABLM, Olivia Thomas, Laura Culver Edgar, Edward Maile, Timothy S.
