Strategic DEI Advisor | Highly Sought-after Board Member | Published Author | Esteemed Speaker

As summer comes to an end, I want to thank everyone who gave me the chance to share my thoughts and experiences at live events, on podcasts, and through virtual sessions. Here are some highlights: · At the start of 2024, I was delighted to speak with The Walt Disney Company’s TWDC Enterprise DEI global HR leaders and highlight global trends that are impacting DEI. I was also honored to join esteemed speakers at the DEI Learning Council at the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas. · Early spring brought a fireside chat with Aruna Ranganathan, University of California, Berkeley’s Haas School of Business and I participated in the Global Summit of Women’s 2024 Colloquium in NYC. · April involved a lot of travel including speaking at the WomenLift Health Conference in Tanzania on a panel facilitated by Iris Mwanza. I was joined by Dr Samu Dube, FP 2030; Rajiv Bahl, ICMR; Marina Bacac, Roche and Agnes Binagwaho, University of Global Health Equity. I'll never forget my once-in-a-lifetime trip to Uzbekistan. A special treat on this trip was helping to make (and eat!) Sumalak. I also had a speaking engagement at The Winters Group, Inc. Annual Racial Justice at Work Summit, and the Call In podcast with Chris Riback and Alexandria White, Ed.D.. · I participated in the Global Summit of Women in Madrid. My panel on Developing Visibility Internally and Externally included luminaries Dr. Cindy Pace, and Marina Sprecht and was facilitated by Annette Matzatt, Mercedes-Benz AG Benz. In London I had a book signing and fireside chat with Ritika Wadhwa on Sustainable Global DEI Transformation. Finally, I joined BSR’s MaryAnne Howland to discuss Effective Strategies to Globalize DEIA Initiatives. · During the summer I hosted my Learn from Leaders session on “How Race Translates Across Cultures” with Celia De Anca, IE University, Spain; Lilian RauldSodexo, Brazil; and Marcelle Laliberté, Dr., HEC, France. I also had a fireside chat with the Burcin Ressamoglu, CEO, Pluxee UK.     · Earlier this month I joined Subha Barry, President of Seramount, Shane L. L., Baker Tilly US; Andrew Lewis, KPMG; Rachel Scott, ABC News for Seramount’s webinar “DEI Backlash: What Employees Really Think”. · I had an incredible experience presenting at the 2024 Martha’s Vineyard Chief Diversity Officer Summit: The Future is Now: Are You Prepared? It's been an exciting, if rather hectic 2024! The warm reception and positive feedback I received this year have been deeply humbling. These moments reaffirm the value of our work and motivate me to continue making a positive impact. I couldn't do this without the support of my DEI community who have joined me on this journey. You nurture and replenish me. During these challenging times, this is our story, and together, we are making a difference. It truly does take a village! #GlobalDEI #LeadershipJourney #InclusionMatters #DiversityEquityInclusion #ProfessionalGrowth

This work is more than just a job to us. This is our calling, our passion. We've supported hundreds of organizations over the years, but more importantly, we've supported thousands of *people*. That's what diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) work is about to us – celebrating people's diverse strengths, bringing out their best, creating human-centered workplaces. And we don't just give clients some recommendations, use up a budget, check a box, and move on. Because, for starters, they're not clients to us. They're our partners. We co-create a vision with you and customize every step of your time with our team to meet people where they are, but not to leave them there. Our tailored learning journeys are designed to make connections, inspire conversations, and facilitate change. No matter where you are in your journey, we can support you and create real, lasting culture change within your organization. Interested in getting started? Here's a dirty little secret about DEI that some people don’t want you to know: You have already benefitted from DEI programs and policies, and you might not have even realized it. If you enjoy flexible work schedules, paid time off, paid sick leave, domestic or married partner benefits, child care support, even your online messaging tools like Slack.... you're benefitting from DEI. These policies and practices are a result of DEI concepts — whether it’s called that or not. Unions fought for standardized working hours. President George H.W. Bush signed the Americans with Disabilities Act in 1990 that mandated into law civil rights for people living with disabilities. That's DEI. And EVERYONE benefits from it. That’s the whole point. So, if you’ve heard all of the loud pushback against DEI and started to wonder if there was a kernel of truth to it, the truth is DEI has, and continues to, benefit everyone. The “I” in DEI stands for INCLUSION, which literally means “bringing you in, making you a part of, INCLUDING you.” Next time you hear someone complaining about how DEI is exclusionary, or racist, or a scam, share some ways that you have benefitted from DEI. Set the record straight. Don’t allow these disingenuous attacks to stand. We will continue to be #DEIProud and we urge you to join us.
