What a wonderful 11th Anniversary event we held Satuurday at Optimist Hall! Duke Energy Corporation hosted E2D and our combined Tech Staffs performed computer diagnostics and repairs on our client partner's older laptops. Together, we were able to fix most of them and the ones we sadly had to retire were replaced by new laptops. (<-- We didn't advertise that part ☺️!) Many thanks to Duke and, as always, to our great colleagues at the Center for Digital Equity.

Exciting News! The Center for Digital Equity (CDE) at Queens University of Charlotte, along with Charlotte-based partners, have secured $4M in grants from the North Carolina Office of Digital Equity and Literacy’s Digital Champions program! This funding will power our mission to enhance digital equity and inclusion across North Carolina. Our Executive Director, Bruce Clark, shared, "This funding is a testament to our local commitment to digital equity and its role in supporting the ability of our people to thrive in the modern world." Learn more about how these grants will enable the expansion of the digital navigator services, support the Latino community, develop device refurbishment programs, and much more. Together, we are breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for all! My favorite thing to do is help facilitate knowledge and insight exchange!! I don’t say teach or train here because, while that can be involved, it’s really top tier when everyone can contribute meaningfully to the collective learning process because everyone is an expert on their own experiences. There’s always something new to learn! What a pleasure it’s been, over the last couple of months to work with several collaborators, via the Center for Digital Equity and the Hayworth Center for Digital Learning at Queens University of Charlotte, to design/develop and lead a training for North Carolina CBOs from various parts of the state engaged in digital navigation work. A big thank you to the United Way of NC and to the State of NC’s Office of Digital Equity and Literacy for supporting the opportunity to do so. The training supports process orientation, skill development, and resource-building for people helping community members across a variety of circumstances and locations to access and use the digital resources they need. Even with that being the subject matter, so many things are done most enjoyably in the company of good people and integrating the technology. I’m looking forward to helping upskill others next to offer this and similar training in the near future.
