This past July in Bangkok, we had the incredible opportunity to host an impact storytelling workshop in partnership with SAUNTR at the Entertainment + Culture Pavilion. We delved into storytelling theory, explored camera techniques, and then took to the streets of Bangkok to put those skills into practice. Here are a few core values we always uphold when teaching these workshops: Take Your Time - Build genuine connections and strive to understand different perspectives. Listen closely and adapt based on real-time feedback. Throughout every stage of production, there’s always room to adjust and refine your approach to best serve the community. Connect - The people in front of your lens are not just characters—they’re individuals with rich stories. Take time to immerse yourself in their world, whether through learning their language or engaging in local customs. Authentic connections are key to capturing their stories in a genuine way. Observe - What story does the community want to tell? Look at how communities collaborate with local organizations and storytellers to share their narratives. As a filmmaker, you are not just a creator, but a conduit for the community's voice—amplifying their stories and enriching the storytelling landscape. What are some other values that you think are important for impact storytelling? Comment below! 👇 Kirsten Wessel Gunjan Nanda Samuel Rubin Daniel Cervenka Elise Orlowski

Resource sovereignty is critical for SIDS and other islands, especially in the face of energy dependency. Relying on expensive fuel imports not only drains local economies but also leaves these them vulnerable to the impacts of climate change. By transitioning to renewable energy, island communities can reclaim control over their natural resources, strengthen their economies, and build a more sustainable, resilient future. Ready to learn how islands are leading this change? Watch our most recent film "OffGrid - a Molokai Story" at the link below. https://lnkd.in/ee2PNaqh Daniel Cervenka Andrés Bronnimann Henk Rogers

We all know fossil fuels are harmful to the climate, but their impact goes beyond just carbon emissions. For small island nations, the cost of importing fossil fuels creates economic dependency and drains local resources, leaving communities rich in natural assets vulnerable to a system they never wanted. In our film "OffGrid – A Molokai Story", John Miller sheds light on the complex journey of oil reaching remote islands. In this powerful collaboration, art meets climate action as we follow Toby on a remarkable journey to document the world’s rapidly changing landscapes. Known for his portraits, including one of Prince Albert II of Monaco, Toby’s passion for capturing the vanishing glaciers of the French Alps drives this transformative expedition. By recreating historical paintings in their original locations, Toby provides a striking visual comparison between past and present. With insights from scientists and researchers, our project seamlessly blends art and science to underscore the urgent need for climate action.
