Saturday was Military Appreciation Night at the Flying Squirrel’s game with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors. It was a touching evening as we honored TAPS families with a special jersey ceremony, where team players presented signed jerseys in memory of lost loved ones or to honor those currently serving. We are especially inspired by our own Amanda Stanley; your strength continues to inspire us, and we were honored to recognize you. Thank you to everyone who joined us!

Yesterday was such an overwhelming yet beautiful experience for me - I got to my honor my first husband Rene who passed away in 2018 from suicide. There were so many families from TAPS at the Flying Squirrels game that were there to honor their families. As each bio was read about each service member, you could tell the amount of love that was on that field, and just how many lives each person touched. I was the last person to receive my jersey, and Jonathan Cotten was there to present mine to me. You know, they always talk about companies that go the extra mile, but this is beyond that. At that moment I felt that I mattered. I felt that Rene mattered. Jonathan was showing me that it mattered to him. So a big thank you again to Jonathan, my incredible People Strategy team who reminded me how strong I truly am, all of my other wonderful team members who were there to give me a hug and show me support, and to Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors for giving me a space to know I am not alone.

Two weeks ago we had the privilege of gathering leaders from across Easy Step Enterprises’ 34 locations and Store Support Center to learn, celebrate, connect, and have a little fun in our Champions Unite Leadership Summit. We had the opportunity to hear Dr. Toni Harris share her story and challenge us to consider the biases we bring into relationship with others that prevent the unity we need as a team. The next day we got a little out of our comfort zone and learned about connecting with others with improv led by Meridith Grundei ✨ and our very own Jeff Jenkins. We are so thankful to have such an incredible group of people leading our stores and Store Support Center. These leaders are at the center of how we achieve our mission of “helping our community live an active and healthy lifestyle, one step at a time.” Additionally, thank you to Perris Jones for sharing his inspiring story!
