Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia

Today we celebrate our 120th Founder’s Day. When our four Founders signed the original constitution and laid out our laws, customs and Ritual, they likely never could have imagined what Theta Tau would become, or the myriad ways in which Theta Tau would affect and improve the world. From our earliest brothers who worked on technology like radio, radar and the automobile, to our modern brothers who work on rockets that will take humanity further into the stars, the impact our brotherhood has had on the engineering profession, and the world, cannot be calculated. Through it all, our members carry with them our values of service, profession and brotherhood, and set a professional standard that cannot be matched. To all of our brothers, happy Founder’s Day!

On May 10th, 2024, I graduated from the University of Georgia College of Engineering with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering! The past three years have been challenging, exciting, and very rewarding for my professional career. I was incredibly fortunate to go on a maymester study abroad to Australia and New Zealand in summer 2023, be a part of many clubs and organizations, work multiple engineering internships and a job in the University of Georgia - Franklin College of Arts and Sciences scenic shop, complete my undergraduate in 3 (long) years, and be a part of two double dawgs programs for my MBA and MS in Mechanical Engineering. I am grateful for my 3 internships that crafted my interests and taught me how to apply my engineering skills outside of the classroom. Thank you Huber Engineered Woods and WestRock Company for the past two summers in OSB and cardboard manufacturing, and Accurus Aerospace Corporation for everything this summer in aerospace machining. I am also very appreciative to be a part of the NASA L'SPACE Program this summer as the principle investigator and project manager for my team, and am so excited to finish our proposal! As someone who was involved in more than their fair share of extracurriculars, I would like to thank all the clubs and organizations that helped define my college experience. Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia, thank you for accepting me into the family and trusting me with planning all the social events last year and professional development this upcoming year. Student Aerospace Initiative (AIAA), thank you for allowing me to join the IREC launch team this past year and help lead the future of aerospace at UGA next year. Engineers eMBArk, I have loved meeting fellow Engineering/MBA students and can't wait to see where we go next year. Finally, thank you University of Georgia Aviation Club for gifting me a scholarship that gave me the opportunity to start flying and allowing me to do the same for other students. I would have never achieved any of this without the strong support from my friends, family, and professors, and am so excited to see where this next year and degree will take me through University of Georgia - Terry College of Business

Last weekend, Jack Eastman and I travelled to represent the Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia chapter at the bi-annual Leadership Academy! We had an absolute blast in Pittsburgh, PA learning about leadership, conflict, and building a team, as well as meeting fellow brothers from across the United States. Thank you Theta Tau for hosting such a fun and informative weekend!

Congratulations to all our members who presented their capstone design project! A year’s worth of hard work paying off at the University of Georgia College of Engineering’s annual Capstone Showcase. So proud of everyone!

Last week many members of our Chapter had the opportunity to present at the UGA Center for Undergraduate Research (CURO) Symposium. It was incredible to see our brothers' hard work and learn more about their passions. Congratulations to all who presented!

This weekend was an absolute blast! On Saturday I had the opportunity to attend Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia’s southeastern regional conference as well as volunteer at the FIRST LEGO League NL state championship held here at UGA! Our regionals comittee put in so much time and effort to make this an amazing event for the entire southeast, and it turned out better than we could have imagined. Thank you to all of exec for your dedication and Stephan Durham, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE for an awesome keynote speech! Helping all the young students involved with First Lego League is such an exciting experience, along with knowing that these are the future engineering students of our time. Huge shoutout to Eliza Banu for organizing everything and all the volunteers that made the whole event run smoothly including Samuel Mack, Jason Rupram, and Brady B..

I am excited to share that our Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia chapter had the incredible honor of hosting the Southeast Regionals this Saturday! It was an incredible experience connecting with fellow engineers who share our dedication and enthusiasm for the industry. I’m grateful for the chance to meet like-minded individuals and exchange ideas that will undoubtedly shape our future endeavors. A huge thank you to our dedicated executive board, regionals committee members and director, and all who helped make this event a success! This past weekend, Theta Tau, Iota Epsilon - University of Georgia hosted this year’s Southeast Regional Conference. As the current Regent, I had the privilege of spearheading the planning for this event. After hundreds of emails and hours of meetings, this event has finally come to fruition. The SE Regional Conference this year provided Theta Tau brothers from across the Southeast with great information from student-led breakout sessions, a fantastic keynote speech from Stephan Durham, Ph.D., P.E., F.ASCE, and lots of networking opportunities with like-minded engineering students. I would like to give a special thanks to Katie Cogar, my Regionals Planning Committee, and all other volunteers who played a large part in making this event as successful as it was. And also, thanks to everyone who came!
