For the People Who Serve. Strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families.
About us
The USO is for the people who serve. Strengthening the well-being of the people serving in America’s military and their families. Since 1941, the USO has strengthened America's military service members by keeping them connected to family, home and country, throughout their service to the nation. From the moment they join, through their assignments and deployments, and as they transition back to their communities, the USO is always by their side. We are the Force Behind the Forces. We currently operate more than 250 USO centers at or near military installations, including in combat zones, MEPS centers, several airports, and even un-staffed USO service sites in places too dangerous for anyone but combat troops to occupy. We serve the American Armed Forces - specifically, U.S. Active, Reserve, and Guard service members and their families through a wide arrange of programs and entertainment. The USO is a congressionally chartered, private organization that relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations and corporations to support its activities, and is powered by a family of over 30,000 volunteers to accomplish our mission. The USO is not part of the federal government.

"These events not only bring our team together in a fun and competitive spirit, but they also provide us with a profound sense of fulfillment, knowing we’re making a difference for those in need." In times of uncertainty, we want every military service member, spouse, and child to know they can turn to the USO for support. That’s a promise that we can make to them thanks to partners like First Nation Group who proudly support the USO through employee engagement opportunities at installations across the country and Care Pack events to bring a piece of home to those serving abroad. "Our partnership with the USO is a reflection of our deep-rooted commitment to philanthropy and our core values. It's this culture of charitable giving that motivates us every day and keeps our mission at the forefront of all that we do." - First Nation Group employee Here's to the power of partnerships that make a real difference, #TOGETHERSTRONG! “I'm a retired service member from the Navy, so I remember the USO being overseas, but to be on the other side of it was really a unique experience. Certainly, to be asked to be a Paralympic representative was an honor.” In a full-circle moment for this former U.S. Navy SEAL, Paralympic medalist Dan Cnossen recently joined forces with Olympic snowboarders Red Gerard and Hailey Langland on a USO Entertainment tour, where they visited service members and military families in Alaska. Toby Keith joined us on 18 USO tours, bringing his music and infectious spirit to over a quarter of a million service members stationed around the globe. His performances were not just concerts; they were moments of joy, connection, and gratitude for those who sacrifice so much for our country. Toby embodied the essence of the USO mission: to always stand by the side of our service members, no matter where duty may call them. His genuine warmth and generosity endeared him to all who had the privilege of working alongside him. "Toby’s story is one of those few that is really special," said Jennifer Wahlquist, VP of Global Entertainment for the USO. "When you talk to service members who had the opportunity to see him perform … it changed their life." Tune in Wednesday on NBC for Toby Keith: American Icon at 9 p.m. ET/PT as we honor his incredible commitment and the joy he brought to service members worldwide. #TobyKeith #theUSO
