About us

The Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission (TJPDC) is a Council of Governments located in the Central Virginia Piedmont Region. The Planning District Commission provides innovative planning solutions to six member governments (the City of Charlottesville, Albemarle, Fluvanna, Greene, Louisa and Nelson County). The Commission is directed by a twelve-member board consisting of two representatives appointed by the governing bodies of the member localities. The TJPDC was establish by the Virginia General Assembly on 1969 and is one of 21 Planning Districts across the Commonwealth of Virginia. The mission of the Thomas Jefferson Planning District Commission is to serve our local governments by providing regional vision, collaborative leadership and professional service to develop effective solutions.
