Recently, we were happy to see high school senior Romina, one of our Scholars from Orlando, FL, who aspires to a career in Finance, join VyStar Credit Union's Florida team to volunteer with the Coalition for the Homeless. We're deeply grateful for VyStar's partnership under the leadership of Brian Wolfburg, CEO, who is dedicated to instilling in our young people the importance of giving back to the community. As Brian puts it: "At VyStar, we believe in fostering a spirit of service and community engagement. It's essential to empower the next generation to make a lasting impact, and we're honored to have Thrive Scholars volunteer alongside us as they grow into future leaders." 🎓 A big thank you to our incredible partners at Takeda for their ongoing commitment to supporting Thrive Scholars! Recently, Takeda hosted a heartwarming volunteer event at their Cambridge office, where employees came together to assemble college care packages for Thrive Scholars studying in the Boston area.📦💙 These thoughtful care packages are being delivered this week to 104 Scholars across 12 campuses. Filled with snacks, school supplies, academic planners, and personal notes of encouragement, these packages serve as a reminder that Thrive Scholars are backed by a dedicated community rooting for their success. 🌟 To all our Scholars, we hope these packages bring a bit of joy to your campus life and serve as a source of inspiration throughout the year. We’re pleased to share highlights from an inspiring event last week at Datadog’s Times Square office, where our New York Scholars got an inside look into the tech world. Datadog hosted 23 Scholars -- from high school students to college undergrads -- and shared valuable insights into diverse career paths in tech. In attendance was our new CEO, Drew Martin, who shared: "When you consistently visit companies, as an adolescent, that have people who have a similar background to yours, and they're telling you that you can follow a similar path like them, it builds your confidence and combats the imposter syndrome that so many people face when they do eventually get to those high places." A huge thank you to Jackie Kostek of CBS Chicago for highlighting our Summer Academy program at Northwestern University, where one of our remarkable Scholars, Gabriela Veliz, was spotlighted for her boundless enthusiasm for learning. Like many of our Scholars, her passion and drive earned her a place in our 6-Year Program. Today, Gabriela begins her journey as a first-year student at her dream school, Yale. Reflecting on how she prepared for this milestone, she shares: “Yale is definitely a very high academic level and I know I’ve been [performing] at a high academic level but anything that can help me bridge that gap between high school and college is super important and will make my time in the fall a lot easier.” Gabriela credits Thrive’s support and the belief our team has in her for helping her recognize her strengths and potential. As the first in her family to attend college in the U.S., let’s cheer on Gabriela and all our Scholars embarking on their college journeys this fall.
