As the Safety Supervisor for Outside Plant (OSP) operations in our Las Vegas market, Sonja plays a critical role in advancing our safety program. She not only supports and implements existing safety measures but also identifies and drives safety improvements. Her responsibilities include training the team and fostering a safety-first culture by serving as a subject matter expert in safe drilling and microtrenching operations. Dedicated to the continued safety of Tilson’s team, Sonja recently earned her Certified Instructional Trainer (CIT) certifications from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, exceeding 135 hours of teaching, training, and development to pass her exam with flying colors. This week Tilson is celebrating #NationalDogDay by sharing photos of some of our favorite furry companions! Along with dogs, our team members have a wide variety of pets, including cats, yaks, lizards, snakes, turtles, donkeys, fish, chickens, rabbits, horses, and guinea pigs. While our pets can't help us build America's information infrastructure, they are a great way to reduce stress, lower blood pressure, alleviate depression, and increase our physical activity. Recently, the National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA) released new guidance on how states and applicants can prepare for the #BEAD Program's Environmental and Historical Permitting (EHP) requirements. Despite these guidelines offering useful best practices and reference materials, they do not offer clear guidelines that will ensure EHP compliance or explain how the process will impact the timing of approvals for BEAD Final Proposals. This uncertainty leaves states grappling with how to ensure EHP compliance and finalize BEAD Final Proposals efficiently. To help BEAD applicants better understand NTIA’s EHP framework, Tilson’s Broadband Consulting team has developed a brief outline of what the NTIA guidance document includes, how states can act today on their BEAD programs, and how applicants can plan for EHP requirements.
