Celebrating 15 years since the pedestrianization of Broadway in #TimesSquare! On May 24th, 2009, Broadway underwent a remarkable transformation, as traffic was rerouted, making way for spacious street areas that prioritized pedestrians to reclaim the heart of the city - with lawn chairs. With the introduction of beautifully designed plazas, comfortable seating and dynamic programming, these new public spaces became vibrant hubs, symbolizing a shift towards reclaiming urban space for the people. #TimesSquare #NYC #PedestrianPlazas

At the south end, 3 Times Square (Rudin) is welcoming a new tenant helping to achieve an impressive 60% occupancy rate. Their ongoing $25 million upgrade boasts breathtaking views and modern amenities, including a stunning new lobby and an exclusive 16th-floor dining area. Additionally, across the street, the transformation of 1 Times Square (Jamestown) into a vibrant museum and visitors' center, coupled with dazzling light installations across the area, adds to Times Square's allure as a global destination. Meanwhile, up north the TSX Broadway building with Tempo by Hilton New York Times Square and across 47th Street the Edition hotel features dazzling light installations, turning the intersection of Broadway, Seventh Avenue, and West 47th Street into the world's brightest corner!

Times Square stands as an iconic tourist hotspot, with hotels in the district witnessing a remarkable resurgence marked by robust room demand. Hotel occupancy rates in Times Square are thriving, and the market is seeing significant real estate deals, including the sale of Hilton branded hotels at high prices per room. The return of international and business travel, as well as conventions are contributing to the neighborhood's recovery and bolstering the local hotel industry. Furthermore, numerous hotels are in the process of undergoing renovations and enhancements. Although the expansion of new hotels in Times Square may be limited in the near term, existing properties are poised to reap the benefits of the resurgence in international tourism and the enduring allure of our neighborhood. https://lnkd.in/efxnC34U
