That’s a wrap for our 2024 Citizens’ Correctional Academy! Participants spent the final week learning about TDOC’s Office of Investigations & Conduct and the Contraband Interdiction Unit. TDOCs law enforcement division is made up of diversified teams of special agents, each one with a unique objective. In staged scenarios, the class worked with the Investigations Unit, the Apprehension & Enforcement Unit, the Security Threat Group, watched K9 Loki perform a vehicle search and saw the tactical tools of our Special Operations team. Cohort 14 will graduate from the program on Oct. 28. Stay tuned!

In the 2023-2024 school year, TDOC had a total of 411 inmates receive their High School Equivalency Diplomas. This year, 26 more graduated in the first month alone! That’s 437 inmates who will have the opportunity to seek higher education, 437 inmates who are less likely to reoffend, and 437 lives changed through the power of education. Congratulations to those graduates, and we look forward to seeing many more take the stage this year!
