At TNTP, we are working toward a future in which no variable – not race, not zip code, not socioeconomic status – limits opportunities for young people. As Tequilla Brownie, Ed.D. shared with our friends at Jobs for the Future (JFF), we can’t achieve our bold vision alone, within the four walls of the classroom. Together, we must meet the moment and do far more to prepare young people to succeed in a rapidly changing world, no matter where their career paths may take them. Here's how you can join us: https://ow.ly/HJcW50QyolW #HorizonsOnLinkedIn #TNTPAtJFF #MeetTNTP #EveryGenerationThrives

    CEO at TNTP

This week at Jobs for the Future (JFF) Horizons has been such a phenomenal convening of collaboration, connection, and cross-sector insight.    On Monday, I was joined on stage in a panel with Russell Wigginton, President of the National Civil Rights Museum, Mauricio Garcia, SVP of Programs for UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS), and our esteemed moderator Tomeka Hart for a fruitful discussion focused on disrupting racial inequities to get young people into quality jobs that ultimately lead to thriving lives into adulthood. Later that afternoon, TNTP hosted a happy hour bringing together leaders across the K12 education, postsecondary, workforce development, philanthropy, economic development, and civil rights sectors.   On Tuesday, I was joined by Mauricio, leaders from UnidosUS (@WeAreUnidosUS), and over a dozen leaders from the aforementioned sectors for an in-depth roundtable discussion. We picked up from the previous day's panel and ran toward some tangible next steps and action items around near-term collaboration and goal setting.   With so much national focus on silver bullets – whether A.I. or apprenticeships – those of us deep in the work in community know that only through intentional partnerships and a cross-sector orientation will we unlock multiple paths of opportunity for all young people. Together we can ensure that every young person, every generation, thrives. Join us.

Like many schools coming out of the pandemic, Vimenti School in San Juan, Puerto Rico, wanted to help their students master the basics. As a dual-language school, their first priority was to make sure students had a solid foundation of skills in their primary language, Spanish. They brought in TNTP’s signature Good to Great teacher development program to elevate teaching practices in Spanish language arts, and after just one week the results were exciting. Here's what happened: https://ow.ly/9lI950SG2j9 #GoodToGreat #PuertoRico

Our CEO, Tequilla Brownie, Ed.D., asks: “Is it not common sense that the systems to support students mirror their lived experience, uninhibited by false walls created by fragmented governance, funding, and policy structures?”   Students are not the sum total of what happens within the four walls of their school – but rather the sum total of their whole life experience. The future of millions of young people hinge on our collective ability to forge interconnected systems, bridging education and workforce.   Let’s work together: https://ow.ly/HJcW50QyolW   #EveryGenerationThrives #MeetTNTP #GuidedByPurpose

At TNTP, we envision a PreK–12 experience for every young person that upends the predictive influence of poverty and race on their life and fuels innovation and growth across our nation. But we can’t achieve our bold vision within the traditional four walls of education. We must forge cross sector partnerships that break down the false walls between K12, workforce, and other systems that shape students' lives. If you're headed to Jobs for the Future (JFF)'s #JFFHorizons, be sure to join us July 22 at 11am to hear more from Tequilla Brownie, Ed.D. as she shares what we must do to give all young people an equal opportunity to thrive in the 21st century workplace. #TNTPAtJFF #ThePowerOfUs
