It's an honor to be part of this milestone for Ohio State Hospitality Management! Our team is humbled to be part of the work they do and appreciates learning together to help better serve neurodiverse guests.
This past weekend, we celebrated a milestone: 10 years of #HospitalityListens! Over the past decade, this event has welcomed 250 families and offered over 500 students unique, hands-on experience in creating inclusive spaces for neurodiverse families. Many of these students are now impacting the hospitality industry across various sectors, bringing with them the core values learned here. This year’s theme, inspired by Inside Out, reminded us of the beauty in embracing all emotions and the power of empathy in hospitality. We extend our gratitude to the 30 incredible student volunteers who made this event possible, and to our partners—OCALI for their guidance and providing "Many Faces of Autism Training," Together & Company for providing us the beautiful venue, delicious food, and event leadership, and Schaffer Distributing for providing fun games for the evening. Special shoutout to Taylor Penn, a former student who served on our first Hospitality Listens committee and now serves as our Event Manager at Together & Company. Taylor, your commitment to this program and its mission continues to inspire us all. Thank you to our Student Planning Committee, Sophia Troutman, Sophia Peacock, Sabrina Kurc, Fares Allahyani, and Jordan Saltzman, for bringing this theme to life and helping to build a space where every family feels truly welcome. You are a special group of individuals, and we are proud to have you in our program. Here’s to many more years of listening, learning, and creating environments where everyone belongs.
