The collected and delivered data is assisting pavement management, sign management, safety studies, transit, and compliance with regulations for 19 townships, and five cities. From conversations and presentations, catching up with old friends and meeting new ones, PWX 2024 was a great success! As agencies strive to manage program and policy needs from a data driven framework, the conversation around transportation asset data is evolving. Data silos are being removed and data integration is a must. Flexibility in collection methods and delivery formats are necessary. Agile collection allows for more complete assets! From older, narrow streets and alleys to multi-purpose pathways and trails, every project has those sections that require nimble data collection. While working on our recent project with the City of Allentown, there were several alleys and streets that were especially narrow and short (Allentown was founded in 1762 – so this isn’t surprising), so vehicle-based collection was not suitable. Utilizing an E-bike, GoPro cameras are easily mounted, and collection was completed. The geo-coded images can be imported to Transconomy’s HUB and the same AI models are utilized as vehicle-based collected images. Flexibility and agility in data collection is critical to project success in asset inventory projects. With the ability to ingest geo-coded images from a variety of sources, Transconomy allows for the appropriate mode of data collection (vehicle-based, drone-based, aerial, or bike-based) to be used to ensure completeness of coverage for any project area.
