About us
Do you have a passion for Oregon, an appreciation of the unpredictable and somewhat maverick nature of this place we call home? Working for Travel Oregon is much more than a job. It is a life less ordinary, an eternal quest for the next farm-to-table meal, powdery slope, coastal sunrise, or cultural experience. Collaborating with stakeholders and partners to align as stewards of Oregon, we work to optimize economic opportunity, advance equity, and respect the ecosystems, cultures and places that make Oregon … Oregon. We are committed to a vision of Oregon that is a welcoming destination where tourism drives economic prosperity, benefits the natural environment, and celebrates rich, diverse cultures.

Travel Oregon is proud to be a funding partner and project advocate of the James Beard Public Market. And today, I had the honor of joining Senators Wyden and Merkley, Representatives Blumenauer, Bonamici and Salinas, Mayor Wheeler, members of the Schlesinger family, JBPM board members and many, many champions as JBPM Executive Director, Jessica F. Elkan, unveiled the home for this new Portland and Oregon attraction. The James Beard Public Market will be a community-focused space, dedicated to honoring the legacy of James Beard (a native son of Oregon and the “Dean of American Cookery”) by celebrating the best of Oregon’s food and culture. The market, which will include 40 new small businesses (and create an estimated 200 new jobs), and will encompass a teaching kitchen, event space, restaurant, bakery, fish market, butcher, cheese shop, wine merchant, local farm stalls, prepared foods, bookstore, and fast casual dining, will be a place where Oregonians and visitors alike can connect with local food producers, chefs, and artisans. The market will be a medium to connect visitors to the bounty of Oregon that’s found in every region of our diverse and magnificent state.

We're looking forward to celebrating the spirit, heritage and flavors of Oregon's Indigenous communities in honor of Native American Heritage Month at The Allison Inn & Spa this weekend. The weekend kicks off with a Celebration of First Foods Dinner on Friday, Nov. 1 where guests will enjoy the rich tradition of Indigenous culture and the exceptional talents of Native chefs, who infuse the stories of first foods into every bite. An Indigenous Marketplace + Reception on Saturday, Nov. 2 will feature Native vendors selling handmade crafts, artwork and more. We'll sip wine and beer from Native winemakers and brewers, as well as neighboring Willamette Valley wineries, and enjoy small bites while taking in live cooking demonstrations from renowned Native chefs. The welcoming, accessible and inclusive experience of visiting Oregon begins the moment a visitor touches down at Portland International Airport. We're thrilled that arriving just got easier for visitors with hearing aids or cochlear implants. In addition to a hearing loop system at the Oregon Welcome Center at #PDX, visitors with hearing impairments will now enjoy crystal-clear communication in the baggage claim area.

Exciting news for Portland International Airport (PDX)! We’ve just installed counter hearing loop systems at our north and southinformation booths in baggage claim (near baggage carousels 4 and 7) and customer service podiums at baggage carousels 2, 3, 7, and 8—arguably several of the busiest areas in the airport. This technology will make it easier for passengers with hearing aids or cochlear implants to communicate with our staff by delivering clear, amplified sound. A huge thank you to Travel Oregon for installing the first system at PDX, paving the way for more accessible communication. We also want to acknowledge #AARP for their generous grant, which made this project possible. At PDX, we’re always working to make travel easier and more inclusive for everyone. If you or someone you know could benefit from this technology, be sure to check it out next time you’re at the airport! #PDX #AccessibleTravel #InclusiveTravel #AARP #TravelOregon #HearingLoop #CustomerExperience

Thank you for everything you do to educate and inspire visitors and to promote the remarkable experiences that make Oregon a welcoming and inclusive destination for all. 👏 👏 👏
Mo Sherifdeen started his career journey at Travel Oregon as a self-described “pixel pusher.” But as the digital opportunities for tourism marketing grew, so did Mo’s vision. He led a unified approach to content and marketing that won Best Content Strategy in the 2024 Content Marketing Awards. Mo credits the organization’s marketing success to its focus on building trust through consistent, inspirational, and educational content. Read the full story: http://spr.ly/6044qTMMr

There's so much to love about the newly renovated Portland International Airport (PDX), not the least of which is the airport's commitment to Oregon's local businesses. We spoke with Kaitlin Hunter, Sr. Manager of Concessions for the Port of Portland, about her team’s efforts to curate a local food, beverage and retail program — and how the Port’s commitment to shared prosperity benefits visitors, residents and small businesses in the Pacific Northwest.
