A Demeter Biodynamic® Regenerative Organic Gold Certified™ Oregon winery dedicated to naturally crafted wines.
About us
Troon Vineyard is a Demeter Biodynamic® Certified and Regenerative Organic Certified™️ farm in Oregon’s Applegate Valley. We naturally craft wines to bring pleasure to your life. Troon Vineyard is dedicated to regenerative agriculture and we practice Biodynamics® in our quest to put back more than we take from our plants and soils. We believe the only route to memorable wines, that reflect the terroir of where they were grown, is to be found in the healthy soils and vines that are the foundation of Biodynamic® agriculture. This philosophy continues in the cellar where our winemaking is minimalist and we use only native yeasts with no additives to ferment our wines and eschew the use of new oak barrels to reveal each nuance of wines grown in Oregon's Applegate Valley. We “Farm like the world depends on it”, which is the slogan of the Regenerative Organic Alliance and reflects our vision for our farm, for our wines and for our planet. We are located on the Kubli Bench, high above the Applegate River in the Siskiyou Mountains of Southern Oregon. It is a biodiverse farm of almost 100 acres. Life on our farm includes cider apples, a vegetable garden, re-wilded honeybees, sheep, chickens, wildlife, dogs, humans and, of course, grapevines.

You can also find the technical data on our Troon wines on our website TroonVinyard.com under the "Wine" link.
"Troon Vineyard first began providing ingredient lists on their back labels in 2022. They've recently expanded their initiative by adding a QR code on all labels that links to a webpage for each specific wine with the number of calories and grams of sugar, fiber, fat, protein content, ingredients and technical information, as well as cork origin, label material and bottle weight, which might appeal to some consumers. Troon's winegrower Craig Camp sees including this information as a natural extension of their Biodynamic farming and winemaking. "Transparency is a responsibility," he stated. "We decided to use the QR code when the European Union made that choice," Camp added. "It not only solved the problem of the limited space available on the printed label, but we're also able to get exact measurements of SO2 and other things that might change before the wine is finally bottled." As the market for organic and Biodynamic products continues to grow, Troon labels target customers who care about how their food is grown and processed. "In my experience, these consumers are as interested in real flavor as they are in farming," said Camp."

"Over the past several years, the team at Troon has transformed Troon Vineyard into a world-leading demonstration of real sustainability in the 21st century. Certified organic, Demeter certified biodynamic, and Regenerative Organic Gold Certified, they are showing that farming can improve the soil, protect animals and support workers, all while producing delicious wines. Troon’s website includes information on all these projects, see additional links at the bottom of this post. Today, I’m highlighting a set of Troon’s affordable wines for everyday enjoyment." #wine #biodynamic #organic

2022 Troon Vineyard Grenache Blanc Extended Lees Aging, Rogue Valley, OR: Retail $40. Responsible Bottle (not weighed). Under DIAM5. When the folks at Troon decide to do something a bit different, they really don’t “fudge” around, and this is a case in point, for sure. Straw to yellow in color, with fresh and bright tree fruit (yellow apple, fresh peach), a saline note, and perhaps a bit of crushed seashell. The palate is tart and layered with oodles of weight, resulting in an incredibly sexy mouthfeel. Whoa. The lengthy finish only adds to an already stellar wine. A whopping 17 months in neutral French oak. Whoa. Outstanding. 94 Points. 2020 Troon Vineyard Tannat, Applegate Valley, OR: Retail $45. 76% Tannat, 24% Malbec. Under DIAM. A couple of weeks ago, I wrote an article about how little Tannat I have tried. While it is true that I have not had a ton of the variety, I have had more than I may have intimated in that post. Some of that Tannat has come from Troon Vineyard in Southern Oregon. When I visited the winery last week, Craig Camp, the GM at Troon, handed me this bottle after having read my article. It has been a few years since I have tried the Troon iteration of Tannat (they do not make a ton), but I hope it will not take as long for the next as this is delicious. Dark in color and in aromas: plenty of blackberry, fresh plum, even a touch of cassis. The palate is also surprisingly fruity (given my history with Madiran), but also classically tart, a near-perfect balance. Some subtle tannins on the finish suggest some life ahead, but, really, this is fantastic now. Whoa. Outstanding. 93 Points.

"Today’s wine consumer is placing new demands on the wine industry that reflect broader trends in consumer preferences and societal needs. For many, sustainability and environmental responsibility, transparency and authenticity, health and wellness, and meaningful experiences are becoming greater priorities when making purchasing decisions. All these things combined may seem like a challenge for many wineries to achieve, but Troon Vineyard in the Applegate Valley in Southern Oregon is making a go of it, believing that “having it all,” may, in fact, be possible." #wine #biodynamic
