🧠 The starting point is measuring the value of this work in terms the capital system can understand - monetization
START SMALL:
🌟 Insight Alert: A monetization deep dive into my family's daily operations has unveiled that the invisible labor required to manage our daily grind:
➡ Consists of 58 distinct tasks that must be executed more than 200
times/week
➡ Requires an average of 8 hours of time per day
➡ Should we opt to outsource these tasks, at a conservative rate of
$20 per hour, this amounts to $166 daily. Annually, this represents
an invisible labor expenditure of $61,000 - for a subset of tasks.
📊 By decomposing this work into tasks and assigning a monetary value to this invisible labor (or any labor, for that matter), we're more than making the invisible, visible; we're equipping ourselves with better information for making decisions about optimal divisions of labor and task-level resource allocation - precisely the playbook we are applying within corporations.
🚀 Pursuing the long overdue opportunity to disrupt and redesign ALL of our work systems, including the unpaid labor market, holds the key to unlocking higher levels of human productivity, well-being, equity and fulfillment.
