At TURN2X, we’re proud to have achieved nearly a 50/50 gender split on our team. ⚖️ Starting with a 100% male founding team, we made a conscious decision early on that this wouldn’t be sustainable for us in the long term. Our commitment to diversity began with our very first hire—a woman—made intentionally to reflect the team we wanted to build. Rather than setting a quota on hires, we set a target for applicants, aiming for at least 30% female applicants from the start. To achieve this, we worked closely with our headhunters, specifically asking them to seek out talented women. The challenge is rarely about available talent; it’s about network access. If you recruit from the same places, you’ll get the same results. Being intentional in the early stages of hiring is essential. Once a team grows homogeneously, it becomes that much harder to attract diverse talent. When it comes to energy storage, gas still dwarfs batteries. It’s not even close. Take Europe, for example, the gas storage infrastructure already in place can hold over 1,000 TWh of energy. To put that into perspective, that’s: → 10,000 times the capacity of all European battery storage combined → 3,000 times more than all pumped storage hydropower → 5 million times the capacity of Europe’s largest battery. Even the biggest battery on the continent is just a drop in the ocean compared to gas storage. And that’s not even factoring in the 2 million kilometers of pipelines connecting the continent. These figures highlight the critical role gas storage still plays in our energy infrastructure. TURN2X unlocks this huge storage capacity currently used for fossil natural gas by producing renewable natural gas, an energy carrier produced from green hydrogen and CO2. By leveraging existing infrastructure for clean energy instead of fossil fuels, we can make significant progress in tackling climate change. Welcoming Pascal Hauenstein to the TURN2X Team! 🚀 Pascal joins us as Technology Strategy Manager, and brings a wealth of expertise in green energy solutions! Pascal hails from Munich and holds a degree in Physics from the Technical University of Munich (TUM), where he specialized in electrochemistry. His passion for sustainable energy drove him to pursue a PhD in chemical engineering at the Helmholtz Institute for Renewable Energy in Erlangen, with a focus on PEM fuel cells/ electrolyser manufacturing and testing. After gaining valuable experience as a strategy consultant at Kearney, advising global energy companies on hydrogen technology strategies, Pascal worked at TES as a technology manager. There, he led efforts in electrolysis and energy storage technologies, along with techno-economic benchmarking and feasibility studies for large-scale power-to-x projects. We’re thrilled to announce that Mira Zallmann has joined us as a Simulation Engineer! 🎉 Mira holds both a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Chemical and Biological Engineering from FAU Erlangen-Nürnberg. She is also completing her PhD at TU Dortmund, focusing on reactor modeling and the optimization of industrial processes. With a strong academic background and expertise in simulation and process optimization, Mira is ready to take on new challenges and contribute to our mission of driving sustainable innovations at TURN2X.
