On October 17, Lisa Lei of the UCLA Labor Center's Asian American Racial Justice project (AARJ) presented at the Asian Pasifka Desi American+ Healthcare Worker Hero Stories Panel on API labor history and racial justice in the healthcare industry. Our AARJ team was joined by incredible healthcare leaders including Julie Ngin from UNAC/UHCP and Ava Ham from Empowering API, as well as Mindy Chen of the Los Angeles Community College District's Dolores Huerta Labor Institute and Theresa Tsao of APASS at Los Angeles Harbor College.

Last Friday, UCLA Labor Center director Saba Waheed and program specialist Veronica Wilson attended a boat tour at the Port of Long Beach to learn more about an ambitious plan that would help CA meet its 2045 climate goal. 🌎 Pier Wind is a proposed facility that would build offshore wind turbines, supporting the state's climate goals and creating economic opportunity. The UCLA Labor Center was also joined by Norman Rogers, USW 675, Ernie Pacheco, IUE-CWA 9, and UCLA Labor Studies grad + Lynwood City Council member, Juan Muñoz-Guevara, among other key voices.

The UCLA Labor Center's Asian American Racial Justice project recently participated in the UNAC/UHCP (United Nurses Associations of California/Union of Health Care Professionals) Union Convention. AARJ is building solidarity across the API labor movement! ⭐
