As we continue #RadTech Week, today's spotlight is: Interventional Radiology. Think of our Interventional Radiology techs as the ultimate support crew, turning complex procedures into minimally invasive treatments that help patients heal faster, with less pain. Our IR techs use cutting-edge imaging and hands-on skill to guide radiologists in performing high-tech procedures. From prepping patients and ensuring comfort to monitoring every step in real time, IR techs are essential for safe, seamless care. #Radtech Week continues: While many people know ultrasound for obstetrics, it’s an essential tool for imaging organs, muscles, blood vessels, and guiding procedures like biopsies. Sonography is safe, painless, and uses high-frequency sound waves to capture detailed images of soft tissues. From distinguishing cysts from solid masses to checking blood flow with color doppler, ultrasound plays a crucial role in diagnosis. Our skilled ultrasonographers work hand-in-hand with physicians and radiologists, using their deep knowledge of anatomy and pathology to capture images that guide accurate diagnoses. This collaboration is key for providing the best patient care. Meet some of our featured team members:

#RadTechWeek continues: At UF Health Jacksonville, our CT department is at the heart of patient care, delivering comprehensive imaging for our patients. Every second counts with this team, who is skilled and essential in supporting the stroke and trauma teams. They help ensure urgent cases receive fast and accurate imaging. Their impact doesn’t stop there—they also contribute to groundbreaking research, performing various scans that drive advancements across multiple fields. We’re proud to have this team making a difference, one scan at a time!

Our first spotlight kicks off with the Diagnostic Radiology (X-Ray) team! Did you know that Diagnostic Radiology (X-Ray) is often the first step in a patient’s care journey? There’s a lot that can be diagnosed from an X-Ray. At UF Health, our dedicated Radiologic Technologists are on the frontlines in Out-patient, In-patient, ER, Trauma, and even surgical settings, performing over 600 exams daily! X-rays are used for more than simply diagnosing broken bones—they help detect several other conditions like collapsed lungs, pneumonia, bowel obstructions, arthritis, and tumors, and can help verify line and tube placements. In Trauma and ED, these instant digital images give physicians critical info, helping save lives in real-time. And during surgeries, C-arms guide surgeons with precision. Radiologic Technologists are essential, providing images that lead to life-saving diagnoses and treatment. Recently, Dr. Shahla Masood hosted her 25th annual public breast forum at the downtown Marriott hotel, with an incredible lineup of experts who discussed “What Everyone Should Know About Breast Health.” From prevention tips to treatment steps and survivorship stories, attendees gained essential insights about breast care and resources in a warm, supportive setting along with enjoying dinner! Our latest YEAH session brought 11th graders from Darnell Cookman School of Medical Arts into the exciting world of Health Informatics! Led by Sabrina Townsend, Health Informatics Manager, students dived into the intersection of technology and healthcare, learning how data is transforming patient care. The day included a tour of the morgue with Dr. Livingston, Director of Patient Services and Pastoral Care, adding real-world depth to the experience. To help students plan for their futures, a representative from FSCJ shared paths to Health Informatics degrees and training programs. The students were also able to meet our inspiring Senior Vice President and Chief Nursing Officer, Kerin Da Cruz, whose journey and advice on life and career choices left a lasting impact. This session not only opened doors to new possibilities but also emphasized the importance of mentorship and building a supportive network. We’re proud to help shape the next generation of healthcare leaders!"

Today was non-stop excitement at UF Health Wildlight! We kicked things off bright and early with the grand opening of our Lab and Radiology departments, welcoming patients on a Saturday! Then, we wrapped up the day by handing out candy and soaking up the festive vibes at the Wildlight 4th Annual Trunk or Treat.
