Today, we welcomed students in their senior year from the Pedro Menendez High School Healthcare Academy. From now until December, the students will spend four days on-site every week, shadowing in over 40 different inpatient and outpatient departments. They will have the opportunity to learn about various roles in health care, understand processes and workflow, and gain exposure to the daily experience of a health care career.

"Retiring from this hospital is the hardest decision I've ever made," expressed Margie, a registered nurse in the Emergency Care Center at UF Health Flagler Hospital. After dedicating over 34 years of her life to this organization and our community, Margie is saying farewell to a place she has considered home for so long. "I've worked in various countries and departments as a nurse, and I can say that this hospital is the best of all. Every moment here has been cherished. The incredible people I've connected with over the years have taught me so much, and I've made amazing relationships." We are saddened by Margie's departure, yet incredibly grateful for the profound impact she has had on the patients she has cared for, the staff members she has worked alongside, and the community she has been an integral part of for so many years.

The UF Health Flagler Hospital Auxiliary hosted 24 high school students in this year's summer junior volunteer program. These students spent four weeks during their summer break making a difference by helping patients and staff in various departments around the hospital. They also participated in community outreach programs at St. Vincent de Paul Society and attended a college class on the unsheltered in St. Johns County. The program wrapped up on July 19 after they completed their CPR certification class. We are so proud of them and wish them all the best as they prepare to return to school in August. Thank you to all the students for their fantastic help this summer!
