Saint Simons By The Sea, located in Simons Island, GA, recently received an award from the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) regarding their ongoing collaboration and community partnership. This partnership comprises five external community partnerships: Wekiva Springs Center, University of Florida, St. Simon By-The-Sea, Georgia Pines Community MH/DD/AD Services, and Archbold Northside, working collaboratively with the VA Suicide Prevention team to reduce the number of veterans dying by suicide. The partners developed a referral process that notifies the VA Suicide Prevention Coordinator when a veteran presents for either suicide ideation or a suicide attempt at a community-based partner. The Suicide Prevention Coordinator meets with the veteran at the community partner’s facility and connects the veteran to care before leaving the facility. We'd like to congratulate Saint Simons By-The-Sea for this well-deserved award and thank them for their commitment to working with our veterans. #ThisIsUHS #UHSis45
