Local authorities have had powers to implement local schemes and award tax relief to help filmmakers kickstart their journeys to producing the country’s next box office hits, cult classics and major rom-coms. #Chancellor of the Exchequer, Rt Hon Rachel Reeves, said: “The UK leads the world in creating great film and TV and we should all be immensely proud of the impact we’ve had across the globe. “From the Avengers to Indiana Jones, the UK has drawn in some of cinema’s biggest names thanks to a combination of fantastic local talent and a world-leading creative sector as well as attractive tax incentives. “As part of the Plan for Change, we will continue to build the sector into a global beacon of home grown success, creating more jobs, more investment, and putting more money into working people’s pockets.” Read more ➡️ https://lnkd.in/eKNGgMXc

His Majesty #TheKing’s personal representative in #Hertfordshire has given his full support to the UK Screen Investment Programme, saying the sector needs to be “battle ready”. Robert Voss CBE CStJ, HM Lord-Lieutenant of Hertfordshire, is a member of the initiative’s Steering Group Committee. Launched at the end of 2024, the UK Screen Investment Programme in partnership with Hertfordshire Futures, promotes the UK’s global-leading film and TV production industry, building on its successes to grow the industry further. Mr Voss said: “As Lord-Lieutenant, King Charles’s personal representative in Hertfordshire -the county with almost certainly more film and television studio capacity than any other – I give my wholehearted support to the UK Screen Investment Programme and am delighted to be involved. “With Warner Bros, Sky Studios, BBC, Elstree Studios and Bovingdon Studios in the county, and as Chair of the Board of Screen Herts, it is imperative that there is significant investment into this industry which is so important not only for Hertfordshire but for UK Plc. I am delighted to see Hertfordshire Futures playing a leading role in this initiative emphasising the importance to the county and country. “If we are not able to offer a sustainable skilled workforce who are ‘battle ready’ at all times, the industry will start to look elsewhere – and I mean overseas. Investment is needed urgently as the UK is seen as the go to place for film and content makers.” Visit screeninvestment.co.uk
