Nikhil Vadgama, UK Centre for Blockchain Technologies Director, is giving you a heads up during his speech at P2P Financial Systems International Workshop: #AI can actually scam you! With the help of social engineering, good old scams can become way better: • Pig butchering #scams: relationships formed with victims persuading them to invest or transfer money with personalisation through social engineering. • Inheritance scams: long lost relatives have died with personalisation through social engineering. • Humanitarian relief scams: requesting #donations and stealing personal #information. • Triangulation #fraud: easy creation of content and infrastructure, such as fake storefronts, product image generation and reviews to con customers. • Telephone scams: voice cloning of a colleague making a request or a family member in distress. • Email #phishing: well-written emails, probably even personalised, using the receiver’s social media data.
