About us

The University of Maryland Institute for Health Computing (IHC) is a strategic initiative that aims to improve well-being and quality of life, diminish disease, and enhance health outcomes for all citizens of Maryland and beyond. The IHC merges top-tier computational expertise and biomedical research with a vast and geographically diverse clinical care network into a force for health care innovation. Funding support comes from strategic partner Montgomery County, Maryland, and from the state of Maryland’s MPowering the State initiative. The IHC is co-led by the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Maryland, Baltimore. The IHC's five major research areas are: applied AI, bioinformatics, immersive visualization, real world evidence and adaptive clinical trials, population and community health, and therapeutic drug discovery.
