UNCW Career Center

The UNCW Career Center knows how to work hard and have fun! The last two days we had our annual staff retreat to focus on team building and community partnerships. On Thursday, we started the day getting to know one another better with The Museum Exhibit game. Each staff member brought an item that was important to them and discussed its significance with the team. Next, we were off to Novant Health to tour the hospital and learn about the many opportunities available to Seahawks looking to build a career in the healthcare field. In the afternoon, we were excited to welcome Stefanie Adams from WNY People Development LLC to facilitate a Change Management workshop where we learned more about each other personally and professionally, as well as how to support one another through growth and change. On Friday, it was an honor to join Cape Fear Habitat for Humanity in preparing a house for a new family. Giving back to the community that provides so much to UNCW is a top value for our team and it was a joy to work together on such a meaningful project. Bring on the fall semester! Earlier this week, the UNCW Career Center was thrilled to partner with UNCW Student-Athlete Support Services to present a Student-Athlete Networking Night where over 30 employer partners and UNCW Seahawk Club members came out to mix and mingle with over 125 student athletes. Are you ready for it?! The Spring 2024 Career and Internship Fair is one week away! On Wednesday, February 28th from 12-4pm in the Burney Center, over 90 employers from a variety of industries will be looking for talented Seahawks to join their teams. Come prepared with polished resumes, a strong elevator pitch, and professional attire! Need assistance preparing for the fair? Come by the Career Center during Express hours where you can get your resume reviewed, learn how to research employers ahead of time, check out our career closet, and/or take a professional headshot for LinkedIn (M-F from 2-4pm, and W-Th from 9-11am). We will also have a photographer taking headshots during the fair! Yesterday, we had the honor of having our Employer Advisory Board on campus for our Spring 2024 meeting. Employer partners from a wide variety of industries came together to learn about Career Center updates, share opportunities in their field, and discuss topics related to career development and recruiting at UNCW. Special thanks to our new Vice Chancellor of Student Affairs, Dr. Christine Reed Davis, for joining us and participating in our ice breaker! Thank you also to our guest speaker, Director of the Disability Resource Center, Katie Krieger, for sharing ways the Career Center and employer partners can make events and opportunities more accessible for all.
