🚨 Modern slavery persists in global supply chains, financial systems, and labor markets, trapping millions in exploitation. Stronger regulations, financial sector engagement, and survivor-centered solutions are critical to dismantling these systems. At the 𝗦𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗱𝗲𝗿𝗻 𝗦𝗹𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗿𝘆 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗲𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗰𝗲 in Bangkok, over 100 stakeholders from government, business, and civil society came together to advance solutions. A key focus was the role of finance in tackling exploitation - an area where the Finance Against Slavery & Trafficking (FAST) Initiative, supported by the 🇱🇮 Liechtenstein government, is driving change. Key efforts include: ✔️ Strengthening financial regulations to mitigate modern slavery risks ✔️ Enhancing human rights due diligence through targeted training & innovative tools, such as the Connection & Risk Tool and Leverage Practice Matrix Modern slavery won’t be eliminated without systemic action. UNDP remains committed to working with partners across sectors to strengthen the financial sector's role in combating modern slavery. UNDP Thailand, in collaboration with ASEAN-Australia Counter Trafficking (ASEAN-ACT), the Office of the Attorney General, IOM - UN Migration, the A21 Foundation, and International Justice Mission, hosted the Second Modern Slavery Conference on March 3-4 2025. This event brought together over 100 representatives from government agencies, civil society, the private sector, academia, and survivors to drive solutions against labor exploitation. . 💡 Key Discussions & Takeaways covered 🔹 Strengthening policies and enforcement to combat modern slavery 🔹 Ethical recruitment and protection of migrant workers 🔹 International cooperation on prosecution and victim protection 🔹 The power of survivor voices in shaping solutions 🔹 Advancing human rights due diligence in business and supply chains . As part of the Finance Against Slavery and Trafficking (FAST) Initiative, supported by the Liechtenstein government, UNDP is committed to mobilizing the financial sector in the fight against human trafficking and forced labor—advancing Thailand toward the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
