UNFCU recently hosted an enlightening internal webinar, “Embracing Live as a Transgender Individual.” We were honored to hear from a courageous member of the transgender community who shared her personal journey of transition with us. Her heartfelt story touched us deeply, offering invaluable insights into the challenges and triumphs faced during her experience. Zachary Christensen, CUDE of CU Pride was also present and shared best practices for creating a more inclusive workplace. He offered expert advice on how we can help create an environment where everyone feels seen, valued, and respected. For example, practice using appropriate pronouns. The open dialogue and authentic stories inspired and educated our staff, reaffirming the importance of empathy, understanding, and allyship in the workplace. #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #CUPride #LGBTQ #Inclusion #DEIB #Allyship

We take pride in the diversity of UNFCU. Our New York team recently celebrated #HispanicHeritageMonth with a potluck and a lively empanada contest. We tasted a variety of delicious dishes, each representing a different country. From savory to sweet, every bite offered a glimpse into the traditions and stories of our colleagues. Special thanks to our Multi-Cultural Business Resource Group for hosting this event! #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #HispanicHeritageMonth

UNFCU congratulates our DEIB Champion of the Month, Dreyfus Wu, Learning Specialist in Human Resources! "I realized that I was somewhat unaware of other cultures and the various celebrations observed by different groups of people. When the opportunity arose to become one of the leaders in our Multi-Cultural Business Resource Group (BRG), I saw it as a great way to learn, participate, and most importantly, lead the development of many internal cultural events. This opportunity not only benefited me personally, but also positioned me to guide others and help educate those who were once as unaware as I was. After a team of volunteers works tirelessly to create an event, I love being in the room, taking in all the effort that was put into it. It truly reflects the significance of DEIB at UNFCU. Moving forward, I am eager to find more ways to educate our community about DEIB and to create more fun, engaging events." – Dreyfus Wu Dreyfus enjoys outdoor activities and improving his Brazilian Jiujitsu skills. His favorite quote is, “Well done is better than well said." - Benjamin Franklin #unfculife #unfcuculture #unfcupeople #peaceofmind #greatplacetowork #creditunions #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging #DEIB

What we look like when we see our members in person. Shoutout to our Kenya Mortgage team for leading an amazing mortgage symposium in #UNON. More than 100 attendees gathered to learn about the homebuying process. We are already looking forward to our next event (location hint: 🗽🍎).

“Embrace learning and development” is a core value at UNFCU. One way this value has been realized is through our internal talent development programs. Since 2018, UNFCU has seen over 300 employees participate in the various programs. Recently, some of us had the opportunity to gather at our Long Island City headquarters to connect with other program participants. We played some competitive games and simply enjoyed some time together. UNFCU’s culture is service-driven and collaborative. Programs like these in Talent Development strengthens our employees’ skills and builds community, which naturally strengthens UNFCU as an organization. #unfcu #unfcuculture #talentdevelopment

For the past several months, the talk of the town at UNFCU has been Talkdesk, a cloud-based customer experience platform to support our contact centers. To acknowledge the progress and collaborative efforts that made the Talkdesk implementation successful, we hosted a special recognition event for our US and Nairobi Contact Centers. This celebration is more than just about the platform—it’s about the dedication and collaboration of so many teams across our organization, working hand-in-hand to ensure this implementation was a success. The energy and enthusiasm in both our US and Nairobi teams were incredible, and we’re excited to see what the future holds as we continue delivering exceptional service to our members. Talkdesk enhances our members' experiences and it provides real-time data, allowing for faster issue resolution, and enables our agents to handle member inquiries across multiple channels more seamlessly. This leads to quicker, more personalized interactions, ultimately improving the overall member experience. #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #creditunions #cudifference #peaceofmind #contactcenter #memberexperience #Talkdesk

As we approach the anniversary of September 11, 2001, we honor the memories of those we lost and the resilience of the individuals, families, and communities who found strength in the face of unimaginable circumstances. September 11 serves as a reminder of our shared humanity. At UNFCU, we are committed to the values that unite us, including community, care, and service. As a global credit union, we recognize the importance of supporting one another, as we work to build a brighter, more secure future for all. We are reminded of the resilience that emerges from challenging times and honor the lives lost, support survivors, and acknowledge the bravery of first responders and others who helped during and after these tragic events. #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #creditunions #cudifference #peaceofmind #neverforget #patriotday

Employee engagement is important at UNFCU because it impacts the organization’s overall success and culture. We track these sentiments in various ways, including during onboarding and separation from the company. We’d like to know what you think about the following question.

UNFCU congratulates our DEIB Champion of the Month, Bhashanti Narine, CCRP, Compliance Analyst and Coordinator in our Office of General Counsel! “Feeling understood and valued for one's cultural background can make a huge difference in how comfortable and authentic someone feels. When people see their culture acknowledged and represented, it fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment. It’s a powerful step towards inclusivity and equity, helping individuals to not just fit in, but thrive. Leading events like Diwali Mela and Caribbean Heritage Month has been incredibly rewarding, especially given my personal connection to these cultures. It’s wonderful to bring my authentic self into these events, creating a space where my cultural heritage could shine and be shared with others. By continuing to support and expand DEIB programs, UNFCU can build on its successes and address challenges head-on.” – Bhashanti Narine Bhashanti enjoys traveling, especially trips with her 9-year-old son, where she takes the opportunity to engage him in other cultures and unique experiences. Her favorite quote is “We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race." - Kofi Annan #unfculife #unfcuculture #unfcupeople #peaceofmind #greatplacetowork #creditunions #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging #DEIB
