UNFCU congratulates our DEIB Champion of the Month, Bhashanti Narine, CCRP, Compliance Analyst and Coordinator in our Office of General Counsel! “Feeling understood and valued for one's cultural background can make a huge difference in how comfortable and authentic someone feels. When people see their culture acknowledged and represented, it fosters a sense of belonging and empowerment. It’s a powerful step towards inclusivity and equity, helping individuals to not just fit in, but thrive. Leading events like Diwali Mela and Caribbean Heritage Month has been incredibly rewarding, especially given my personal connection to these cultures. It’s wonderful to bring my authentic self into these events, creating a space where my cultural heritage could shine and be shared with others. By continuing to support and expand DEIB programs, UNFCU can build on its successes and address challenges head-on.” – Bhashanti Narine Bhashanti enjoys traveling, especially trips with her 9-year-old son, where she takes the opportunity to engage him in other cultures and unique experiences. Her favorite quote is “We may have different religions, different languages, different colored skin, but we all belong to one human race." - Kofi Annan #unfculife #unfcuculture #unfcupeople #peaceofmind #greatplacetowork #creditunions #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging #DEIB

UNFCU was founded by United Nations employees in 1947. UNFCU’s mission is to serve the people who serve the world by enriching the lives of our members. One of the ways to help understand what inspires the culture at UNFCU is to visit the UN. Some of our UNFCU colleagues had the opportunity to host Emily Kamunde-Osoro PCC, founder of Rise & Learn Global, a leadership and human resources consulting group based in Nairobi, Kenya. Emily and her team have been strong partners for UNFCU’s recruiting efforts in Nairobi. We are thankful to have had the opportunity to enjoy the UN tour with Emily. We were all reminded of the important work the UN strives to do to maintain peace and security, and achieve international cooperation. #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #creditunions #cudifference #peaceofmind #serviceexcellence #greatplacetowork #UN #UNGA

Janice Ong, UNFCU's VP of Payments Experience, was recently interviewed by the Federal Reserve to talk about ISO 20022, an important migration project for many global financial institutions to modernize payment systems. This project is especially important since the members of UNFCU rely on our payments services. We are proud of Janice and her team's dedication to this project and look forward to the positive impact it will have on enhancing the member experience at UNFCU. https://lnkd.in/e67rCNQN

At UNFCU, we believe that coaching is a powerful tool for unlocking potential, fostering personal and professional growth, and driving organizational success. In today's dynamic work environment, the value of coaching cannot be overstated—it is essential for empowering our staff and enhancing their skills and capabilities. To support this vision, we have developed an internal Coaching Framework that guides our staff in embracing a coaching culture. This framework is a practical tool, with resources and strategies to help our people managers and individual contributors lean in to coaching in their everyday interactions. Our HR Business Partners and Corporate Learning team have been busy delivering virtual information and training sessions to help the organization embrace this framework. UNFCU is committed to investing in our people and creating a thriving, engaged workforce. By embedding coaching into our daily practices, we empower our staff to grow, innovate, and contribute to our collective success. #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #creditunions #cudifference #coaching #coachingculture

UNFCU congratulates our DEIB Champion of the Month, Sophia Jeanmary, Manager & Lead Executive Support! “Embracing the tenets of the DEIB movement has not only positively transformed my perspective, but has also endowed me with the ability to adapt to change and maintain agility within the organization. My involvement in the DEIB BOLD project proved to be transformative, as it equipped me with the skills to engage in challenging yet professional dialogues while remaining receptive to diverse viewpoints. This experience underscored the importance of recognizing that individuals are shaped by their unique knowledge, thus teaching me to refrain from personalizing circumstances on differing perspectives. The DEIB Business Resource Groups at UNFCU have demonstrated exceptional commitment, particularly in facilitating candid conversations. It is imperative that we continue to delve into the array of biases that we unconsciously harbor, taking into account societal norms. I consider myself privileged to be part of UNFCU’s progressive journey, as the organization endeavors to nurture an environment that is inclusive and secure for all members of our distinct community.” Sophia hails from the enchanting island of Haiti. She derives great pleasure from activities such as swimming, visiting the beach, and indulging in barbecues. Furthermore, she is an avid reader, particularly drawn to literature encompassing historical narratives and self-improvement. Her favorite quote is, “You were born an original; don’t become a copy.” – Coco Chanel #unfculife #unfcuculture #unfcupeople #peaceofmind #greatplacetowork #creditunions #diversity #equity #inclusion #belonging #DEIB

UNFCU had a lively and eventful June, marked by numerous celebrations, including recognizing #CaribbeanAmericanHeritageMonth! We celebrated and learned more the diverse and vibrant Caribbean cultures through a video montage of our staff sharing their heritage, a brief history of the Caribbean, and a fun interactive workout routine. The Caribbean has such a rich culture and we are so proud to have so many employees represent these islands. They are part of the reason why UNFCU is a Great Place to Work! #unfcu #unfculife #unfcupeople #unfcuculture #creditunions #cudifference #peaceofmind #serviceexcellence #greatplacetowork #DEIB #CaribbeanAmericanHeritageMonth
