Letter to the Force from the Chief of Army Reserve and Commanding General, U.S. Army Reserve Command. Our Nation faces a complex national security environment in a rapidly changing world. Capable adversaries present growing challenges at home and abroad. We must be ready. Never forget why the Army and Army Reserve exist: to fight and win our Nation’s wars. To that end, we will focus on four priorities: - Build and deliver Combat Ready Soldiers and formations - Mobilize and deploy on time and at scale - Adapt, Transform and Modernize - Invest in our Soldiers, Civilians, and Families Let’s lace ‘em up and get to work. Twice the Citizen, Combat Ready!

"Not everyone has someone in their life who can explain what the Army Reserve is and how it can fit into a college and career plan," Jordyn Hoit, an ROTC cadet explained. "By sharing my story, I hope to make that information more accessible to students who might not have considered the military as an option."

Women have served the US Army in some capacity since 1775 and make up 19 percent of the total Army and 38 percent of the Army civilian workforce today. Thank you to all of our female Soldiers and civilians for everything you do to Be All You Can Be! Each year on August 26th we commemorate and celebrate Women's Equality Day, representing the date in 1920 that women were guaranteed the right to vote in the 19th Amendment to the U.S. Constitution. #WomensEqualityDay

✅ Know Your Risk. Do you live right on the coast, where you are prone to a storm surge? Do you live farther inland, where you are still prone to dealing with the wind and water from flash floods? Are you at an increased risk of tornados, wildfires, or other weather events? ✅ Make an Emergency Plan. After determining your risk, create an emergency plan for when a natural disaster hits. This plan should include both a written plan and an evacuation plan. ✅ Gather Supplies. Assemble a disaster preparation kit full of disaster supplies. These supplies should last for a minimum of 3 days—whether you are evacuating or sheltering in place—and should be kept in a waterproof container that is easy to access. ✅ Prepare Your Home. An early step you can take before the threat of a natural disaster is to do an insurance checkup to make sure your property has adequate coverage in the aftermath of a weather event. Keep all pertinent insurance documents with you. ✅ Watch for Warnings and Alerts. After taking these precautionary steps, you should watch for warnings and alerts in your area. Sign up for community alerts in your area and pay attention to local news stations to track the hurricane’s progress and know when to evacuate. #Safety
