We’re thrilled to share that we received a Critical Sectors Job Quality grant from the U.S. Department of Labor! This grant of nearly $150,000 will directly support our efforts to increase the diversity of the local workforce in the climate resiliency sector. This work, in partnership with the Workforce Development Board of South Central Wisconsin and industry partners, helps to move forward our goal of helping more people find pathways out of poverty – building a Dane County where everyone has what they need to thrive. #PowerofCaringWorkingForAll https://lnkd.in/ezzfzqER

We were honored to welcome Wisconsin Department of Children and Families' Secretary Jeff Pertl and his leadership team to United Way of Dane County last week. We engaged in productive discussion about challenges faced by children, their families and childcare providers in our community. We look forward to working together to tackle these issues, including state policies that may hinder progress and innovative ideas to accelerate family well-being and community health. #PowerofCaringWorkingforAll

Congrats to our Flavor Fight winners, Laura, Mike and Mo! Laura won best dessert with her olive oil cake, Mo won best appetizer with her fruit dip and Mike won best entree and best overall dish with his loaded potato soup. As BWBR kicks off our annual United Way giving campaign, it's a perfect time to reflect on the incredible work United Way and their partners, including Second Harvest, are doing in our communities. Every contribution, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to creating a better future for all. Our 2023 campaign resulted in 4 people experiencing homelessness receiving access to safe, stable homes and supportive services; 119 individuals provided with high-quality food and connections to benefits; 5 children and families accessing quality early-childhood education or career and future readiness programming; and 4 adults receiving job training and placement.
