About us

United Way of Greater Knoxville fights to improve the Health, Education, and Financial Stability of each and every person in our community. We support 119 programs across 56 agencies to ensure we help as many people as possible, in all the ways possible. UWGK raises money to meet the needs of our community. The money that is raised here, stays here - and helps over 100,000 Knoxvillians each year. With your help, we will continue to preserve key existing community relationships while forging new partnerships to properly identify core issues, share responsibilities, and ensure lasting, effective change. Change doesn't happen alone. To live better, we must LIVE UNITED.

Updates

  • We were excited to partner with Tennessee Valley Authority and Knoxville Utilities Board to share about sustainability opportunities for low and moderate income residents. Over 50 local professionals from more than 10 organizations joined to hear about sustainability resources and participate in discussions about residential energy efficiency, renewable energy options and how we can help communities access and navigate available resources. We want thank you to our co-hosts, KUB and TVA. We also want to say a big thank you to United Way, who joined to share about United Way's innovative community resiliency strategies.

Success doesn’t happen until you embrace discomfort. Most people avoid it. They choose comfort over growth. But here’s the thing: True growth comes from doing hard things. Matt Ryerson, CEO of United Way of Greater Knoxville, explains it best. When you're physically pushing yourself, whether it’s on a run or in the office, you’ll want to quit. But pushing past that point? That’s where the magic happens. It’s not just about fitness. It’s about building resilience. Resilience that transfers into every area of your life. When you face challenges at work, you’ll remember— You’ve pushed through before. Here’s how to apply it: The next time you want to stop, go one more step. Whether it’s sending one more email, or finishing that project, keep going. Each step builds your confidence. Eventually, you’ll trust yourself in any situation. Want more strategies on leading through discomfort? Tune into Hart & Hustle with Matt Ryerson down in the comments.
