Unfortunately, disaster recovery scams often arise in the wake of natural disasters. To keep your money and personal information safe, remember the following tips: ⛔️ If someone wants money to help you qualify for FEMA funds, it’s most likely a scam. ⛔️ Beware if contractors demand cash payment upfront or refuse to give you a contract in writing or copies of their license or insurance. ⛔️ Scammers may pretend to be safety inspectors, government officials, or utility workers: always ask for identification to verify who you’re dealing with. ⛔️ Never share your personal information, like SSN or account numbers.
