About us
United Way of Greater Houston creates opportunities for every person in our community to thrive. At the heart of our work is ensuring the safety net by providing life-saving services to meet our neighbors’ most basic needs, like food and shelter. We are here to support families and individuals when they are going through crises, like job loss, domestic violence and natural disasters. And, we create a pathway to self-sufficiency and success for our neighbors and our community. We provide the tools, resources and education for families to achieve financial stability and independence, for children to succeed in school and in life and for veterans to rebuild their lives after returning from service. Every day of the year, 24-hours a day, we are the voice of help and hope for those who call our 2-1-1 Texas/United Way HELPLINE. And, we bring stakeholders and our community together to address the most pressing needs in our area, improving the quality of life for everyone in our region. We do it all strategically, transparently and with a focus on results. Join us. www.unitedwayhouston.org

They say everything is bigger in Texas, and our Alexis de Tocqueville Society members brought every bit of that spirit to our Cowboy Couture Kickoff Reception at Goode Co. Armadillo Palace. Between the big hats and belt buckles, we celebrated even bigger community impact and the remarkable legacy of good that ADT donors are creating in Greater Houston. Thank you to everyone who joined us and to all who help us connect people to possibility.

We had a spectacular time with HP during their Supplier Summit and charitable golf tournament. 🏌️ More than 250 supply chain leaders and suppliers for the company joined us on the green to show their support. Thank you, HP, for helping us raise $100,000 during the tournament to create brighter futures for our neighbors. We were so excited to join you and to see employees coming together and enjoying the event! Photos courtesy of HP

We’d like to give a big welcome to our Project Blueprint Class XLV! This group is off to a great start. They’ve already participated in a retreat in Galveston and received an insightful presentation from Ruth N. López Turley, the director of the Kinder Institute for Urban Research, about Houston’s past, present, and future. We are thrilled for these students to gain knowledge through this program and to learn new leadership skills!

We’re celebrating 10 years of our Mastering Algebra Together, Houston (M.A.T.H.) program! Thank you, ConocoPhillips, for partnering with us and making an impact. This program focuses on helping students improve their math skills and feel confident about their skills. An average of 70% of students increase their scores from pre to post assessment through the initiative. To celebrate the anniversary of M.A.T.H., the United Way team put their algebra skills to the test with fun math activities!

What a motivating campaign kickoff! More than 2,500 ExxonMobil employees made time to connect with us and several partner agencies. We are so grateful to the team at ExxonMobil (ExxonMobil Giving) for their energy and support! A special thank you to Exxon Mobil Corporation Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Kathryn Mikells for getting everyone inspired, and to ExxonMobil Foundation President and Global Manager of Corporate Giving, Alvin Abraham for hosting this unforgettable day. P.S. Congratulations on 10 years at the incredible ExxonMobil Houston Campus (and thanks for sharing your cake)!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for our Women’s Initiative luncheon. 🩷 📚 We were inspired by our guest speaker, Jean Becker, who was the former Chief of Staff for George H.W. Bush for nearly 25 years. Jean shared several stories, and she talked about the importance of serving others, which is exactly what our Women’s Initiative members do. These incredible women raised $6.1 million last year, and we are so grateful for all that they do to change lives in our community. Here’s to another great campaign year!
