In preparation for our upcoming campaign season, we recently held the first of two in-person Campaign Manager Workshops. This event was generously sponsored by and held at Lindsay Corporation and it hosted campaign managers from across the metro. If you missed this one, don't worry! Our next workshop will be August 22, 2024 at United Way of the Midlands. We encourage all campaign managers to register and join us for this valuable opportunity to connect and learn from one another and leaders in our community. #UWM #CommunityStrong

We are United Way. And because of you, we are COMMUNITY STRONG.
About us
For nearly 100 years, United Way of the Midlands has served the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro by bridging the business and not-for-profit sectors to create a Circle of Support that helps our neighbors overcome difficult challenges and start building a better future. UWM’s funded programs and direct services address social and economic disparities and meet families’ essential needs such as healthy food, safe and stable housing, physical and mental health services, career preparation and job training. With your caring support, we proudly fund a network of health and human service programs that help those in need across Douglas, Sarpy and Pottawattamie counties. United Way works closely with the agencies that host the programs to note measurable results in the lives of their clients. And we collaborate with many individual and corporate donors and foundations to keep the network of hope strong. United Way of the Midlands will continue to evolve alongside the growing needs of our community. We will champion those who are in the fight to better themselves and others. We will be informed and accountable. We will skillfully combine passion with reason. We will build up what has fallen and create what should have been here all along. Together, we will create life-changing opportunities through programs that meet the Basic Needs of our most vulnerable population, support children during their academic years and help prepare young people for productive careers. We see what can be, and what should be, because we are community-based and we are community-focused. We are United Way. And we are community strong.

Habitat for Humanity of Council Bluffs is lucky to have the support of our local United Way of the Midlands as we work together to preserve housing in Council Bluffs through our repair program.
Every family deserves a safe place to call home. Yet, too many are forced to choose between essential needs like bills, childcare, and food. 211 has seen a surge in calls for housing assistance - received over 5 million calls last year alone. United Way Worldwide CEO, Angela F. Williams, JD, M.Div, and National Fair Housing Alliance CEO, Lisa Rice, are leading efforts to combat housing insecurity and discrimination. In their latest Newsweek article, they emphasize the need for robust policies like the Fair Housing Act's AFFH mandate and federal funding for the 211 helpline to build resilient, equitable communities. Learn how you can help us create a future where fair housing is a reality for all: https://lnkd.in/ekdAuMm8

We had a blast at our United Way of the Midlands All-Staff Offsite on June 27! It was a day full of fun, learning, and networking as we reflected on our year's accomplishments and celebrated our successes. UWM, JAG, and 211 staff heard from UWM Board Members Paul Maass, CEO at Scoular, and Dina Tilgner, President and COO at NP Dodge, during a panel discussion. We also heard from Dr. Paul White, author of "The 5 Love Languages of Appreciation in the Workplace," and had opportunities to connect with our agencies during roundtable discussions. Congratulations to our Spirit Award winner, Aaron Ammon! #UnitedWayMidlands #UWM #TeamBuilding #CommunityStrong
