The University of Nebraska Press, founded in 1941, is the largest university press between Chicago and California. It publishes scholarly and general-interest books (with more than 5,000 titles in print and an additional 150 new titles released each year) and journals (with more than 30 different journals published each year) in topics ranging from anthropology and literary criticism to history and sports. In addition to the Nebraska imprint, the Press also publishes books under Bison Books, The Backwaters Press, and Potomac Books imprints and publishes the books of The Jewish Publication Society. The Journals division produces the publications of Nebraska Extension, a division of the University of Nebraska’s Institute of Agriculture and Natural Resources.

The rise of the American Football League I've always been fascinated by the American Football League and its almost meteoric rise to rival the NFL in player talent and fan popularity in the 1960s. Surfing YouTube, I came across three excellent videos about the AFL, with one highlighting what I believe is one of the most underrated teams in pro football history, the 1969 Kansas City Chiefs, winners of Super Bowl IV. Speaking of that team, can someone explain why wide receiver Otis Taylor, who caught a TD in the Chiefs' 23-7 win over the Vikings in Super Bowl IV and hauled in 410 passes and 57 TDs in his career, isn't in the Hall of Fame. In George Allen: A Football Life, I called that battle a "Cold War era cold war." Over a year ago, I posted this. Since that time my book from University Of Nebraska Press went on to win the 2024 Robert M. Utley Award from the Western History Association, was named a Finalist for the David J. Weber Book Prize, honoring the best non-fiction book on the American Southwest (also WHA), and was named a 2024 Outstanding Academic Title by Choice magazine. What a year! Thanks to WHA and Nebraska for helping to make this project a success.
