It’s hard to miss the signs of progress of our expanded Emergency Department and patient tower. Framework for three floors is now in place, and despite some frigid winter conditions, crews are working hard to hit critical project milestones to keep things on track for our community. The School of Nursing is mourning the loss of our founding Dean and a national nursing legend, Loretta Ford. Widely known as the Mother of Nurse Practitioners, she co-founded the NP role and the first NP degree program in the U.S. As former director of nursing at University of Rochester Medical Center, she developed the Unification Model to bridge nursing research, education, and practice, boldly re-imagining nurses' role in healthcare and challenging the status quo. Her impact on our school and nursing profession runs deep, and her dedication to improving health outcomes continues to guide and inspire us.
