  • On this National Renewable Energy Day, we’re proud to see the positive impact that solar projects are having not just on the environment, but in the communities where we work. To Urban Grid, solar projects offer more than just clean energy. They offer programs like agrivoltaics, bring local farmers new opportunities for growth and encourage community college and trade school pathways through a sustained scholarship program. We’re mindful of our responsibility to be good stewards of the land and to contribute in meaningful ways to the communities we’re part of. The opportunity to make a lasting difference — both environmentally and locally — is what motivates us every day. #NationalRenewableEnergyDay #CommunityCommitment

  • Urban Grid’s in-house expertise is driving innovation in agrivoltaics and beyond. Last week, our VP of Asset Management—and resident teacher—Jeff Hudson, had the opportunity to pay it forward. Thank you, Jeff, for your leadership and for inspiring the next generation of renewable energy talent! 🐑 🌎 #Agrivoltaics #RenewableEnergy #TeamUrbanGrid

Last week I was able to return to Cornell Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering to speak at the KK Wang Renewable Energy Day. It was an honor speaking with faculty, students and industry professionals during the sessions and learning about the latest research at Cornell. We had a great event focusing on everything from agrivoltaics, recycling, interconnection and operations. Thank you to Max Zhang for inviting me back to campus for the event. #cornell #solar #agrivoltaics #sustainability #renewables

For Black History Month, Urban Grid reflects on the legacy of Rev. Lewis H. Bayneum, a minister and undertaker who established what became Silent City Cemetery in Cambridge, Maryland. Tucked away and nearly forgotten, this sacred site is the final resting place for more than 100 community members, including WWII veterans. Too many African American cemeteries on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and beyond have been neglected, their histories at risk of being lost. Silent City is one of them—hidden from view on land Urban Grid owns and will tend as part of our Egypt Road Solar project.  Our community commitment is to ensure this unique history is not erased. With guidance from the COALITION TO PROTECT MARYLAND BURIAL SITES INC, and in partnership with the Dorchester County Historical Society, we are launching a community-driven research initiative to uncover and document the stories of Silent City Cemetery, providing an ongoing resource for local descendants seeking to reconnect with their past. As our project work gets underway, we are grateful to our partners at DEPCOM Power, Inc who will lead cleanup efforts in the surrounding area, ensure public safety and join us for the eventual installation and unveiling of a commemorative marker at the site when our Egypt Road Solar facility is completed. Preserving history is a responsibility. We are honored to be part of this effort. #communitycommitment

  • Urban Grid celebrated a major milestone this week with the launch of our Virginia Solar Portfolio, featuring three impactful projects—Crystal Hill Solar and Alton Post Office Solar in Halifax County, and Foxglove Solar in Frederick County. Together, these incredible new solar facilities add 215 MW of clean power to Virginia's power grid, contributing millions in tax revenue in local communities for decades to come.🌞 As CEO Peter Candelaria shared “This is an important day for Urban Grid and for Virginia. With the launch of our Virginia portfolio, we are delivering on Urban Grid’s vision to drive energy independence and local economic growth. These projects are generating good jobs, tax revenue and reliable power for thousands of Virginia homes. Together with our local partners, we are building a stronger, more resilient energy future.” Thank you to Halifax County Supervisor Robbie Smart, American Legion Post 99, DEPCOM Power, Inc. and all our partners and community members who joined the celebration. We look forward to the next one! 🐑 🐝 🌻 #TeamUrbanGrid #CommunityCommitment #VirginiaSolar

  • Honoring Our Veterans   On this day, we take a moment to recognize and honor the veterans within our company and all who have served. We are grateful to Patrick Coan, Zachary Dove, Ken Drewry, Telemachos "Telly" Manos, PMP, George Rissky, CSP, and Tyler Rocha, CMA for their dedication, bravery, and sacrifice.   Their experiences and values continue to shape and inspire our team every day. "I originally joined the military to be part of an organization larger than myself. I felt it was an honorable cause and would open up doors in my future. Now, it’s helped me become a better leader, more disciplined, and strengthened my resilience. I attribute a large part of my work ethic, drive, and bearing due to my time in the Army." ~Telly Manos   To all veterans, thank you for your commitment to protecting our freedoms. We honor you today and always.   #VeteransDay #HonoringHeroes #ThankYouVeterans
