The mission of the U.S. Coast Guard is to protect the public, the environment, and U.S. economic interests — in the nation's ports and waterways, along the coast, on international waters, or in any maritime region as required to support national security. As one of the five branches of the Armed Forces, the U.S. Coast Guard is vital to our nation's safety and security. U.S. Coast Guard personnel are the backbone of America’s maritime security. They represent the diverse makeup of our nation and support not only those on active duty but also families, veterans, and retirees through education, training and benefit programs. #TeamworkThursday Earlier this month, numerous U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Coast Guard Reservee, and U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary members were on Lake Washington, Seattle, in support of Seafair Festival 2024. Crews from Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound, U.S. Coast Guard Station Seattle, Coast Guard MSST Seattle, U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Terrapin, Coast Guard Cutter Osprey, and several other local government agencies, including Seattle Fire Department and Seattle Police Department, worked together to provide safety and security for festival goers. U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Port Angeles even participated in the air show with a search and rescue demonstration! #BravoZulu to all our units and partner agencies involved in celebrating the 75th annual #SeaFairFestival! #USCG #CoastGuard #rescue #demo #BlueAngels #display #Seattle #Washington

Take me out to the ball game! 🌭 Personnel from U.S. Coast Guard Mid-Atlantic and U.S. Coast Guard Sector Virginia were recognized and honored at the Norfolk Tides baseball game this past Friday. Admiral Vann and Captain Britton threw out the first pitches! ⚾Admiral Vann also enlisted 5 people into the Coast Guard with the assistance of Go Coast Guard Hampton Roads! It was a memorable evening celebrating our service and the strong bond we share with the community. Thank you to the Norfolk Tides for recognizing the dedication and hard work of the Coast Guard. #TacticalTuesday An aircrew from U.S. Coast Guard Airsta Barbers Point recently participated in Operation Nasse, a three-month operation conducted by Australia, France, New Zealand, and the U.S. to protect marine resources of Pacific Island nations and the Western Central Pacific. An HC-130J Hercules aircrew from Air Station Barbers Point patrolled the South Pacific High Seas from July 1-12 to detect, investigate and report any illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing activity. “Oceania is vast, and the challenges of illegal fishing require a united front,” said Lt. Cmdr. Keith Arnold, HC-130J aircraft commander for U.S. Coast Guard Air Station Barbers Point. “Sharing data, strengthening our communication networks, and coordinating patrols allows us to create a more comprehensive picture of what’s happening on the water in the region.” (U.S. Coast Guard photos by AET2 Nick Martino and AMT2 Jean Collado) #USCG #CoastGuard #operation #OperationaNasse #C130 #AirStaBarbersPoint #opbluepacific #Hawaii

#MotivationMonday Starting the week off with a #BravoZulu and welcome home to the crew of the USCGC Venturous! The U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Venturous returned to homeport in St. Petersburg, FL. last week after a successful 60-day deployment in the Windward Pass and the Florida Straits! While underway, Venturous took part in Operation Vigilant Sentry, a joint operation combining air and surface assets to protect the safety of life at sea, and to deter unlawful maritime mass migration. Between training and operations, the crew still managed to find time for morale events, including fitness challenges, underway fish-calls, skeet-shooting competitions, port-call sporting events, and mess deck trivia. “This mission is inherently difficult; we see people on their worst day,” said CDR Karen Kutkiewicz, commanding officer of the Venturous. “Our crew embodies our core values of honor, respect, and devotion to duty every day. We take care of each other, and the detainees and migrants who cross our deck before their prosecution or repatriation.” Venturous is a 210-foot Reliance-class medium endurance cutter which was commissioned in 1968. The cutter’s primary missions are counter-drug operations, migrant interdiction, and search and rescue. #USCG #CutterLife #CoastGuard #CGatSea #USCGCVenturous

We heard heartbreaking testimony from victims and survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment. The Coast Guard commends the courage of those who testified and their desire to make the Coast Guard better. Their experiences are helping us to shape policies and actions to prevent sexual misconduct and ensure effective victim support and accountability. Their testimony affirms the urgency and importance of the Coast Guard’s actions directed by the Commandant after the Accountability and Transparency Review in July of 2023. The Service has completed 18 of 33 of these actions so far and will continue to invest in prevention, victim support, and accountability. These actions represent the early stages of an enduring effort to ensure a workplace culture intolerant of sexual assault, sexual harassment, and other harmful behaviors. Learn more about the Coast Guard’s actions to ensure a safe and supportive workplace here: https://lnkd.in/gAjWtrSc We thank Congress for lifting up voices of survivors and for oversight of the Coast Guard’s vital work to strengthen our service culture.

The profound trauma and suffering victims and survivors of sexual assault and sexual harassment have endured is heartbreaking, and we are inspired by their courage to share their stories. The Coast Guard acknowledges that this is not only a problem of the past, and we are actively implementing the Commandant’s 33 directed actions announced in November 2023 to strengthen our service culture, improve support and care of victims, and hold perpetrators accountable. Our progress in completing 18 of these directed actions so far represents the early stages of enduring change that will ensure every person in the Coast Guard experiences a safe work environment where they are respected and valued. We thank Congress for lifting up voices of survivors and for oversight of the Coast Guard’s vital work to strengthen our service culture. 💜 #PurpleHeartDay Every year, we honor and remember the brave men and women who were wounded or killed in action while serving our country. We are forever grateful for their courage, resilience, and selfless sacrifices. Samuel R. Jones was awarded the Purple Heart during a ceremony aboard the Coast Guard Cutter Diligence in Wilmington, N.C. Thursday, March 13, 2008. Jones, a Selma, N.C. native, received the award for injuries he sustained during a torpedo attack on the USS Cavalier during World War II, as it transited from Luzon, Philippines to Leyte, Philippines. #CoastGuard #USCG #PurpleHeart
