    Senior Software Engineer @ Nourish

I’m thrilled to be joining Nourish as a Senior Software Engineer! When I began my career in consulting, working with MedTech companies made me understand that most products and treatments are focused on managing chronic illnesses rather than preventing or reversing them, which often means profiting off of keeping people sick. Transitioning to my engineering role at Nom Nom, a fresh pet food service, I learned about the significant impact real food can have on health outcomes, even in animals. A few years later, I read Robert Lustig’s book Metabolical, which deepened my understanding of the root causes of many chronic illnesses and reinforced the idea that real, unprocessed food can do more than just manage these conditions—it can actually prevent and reverse them. I'm excited to be working at Nourish because they make it easy for patients to receive high quality nutrition care, covered by insurance.

If you struggle with eating past the point of fullness, or feel out of control with food, here are a few reasons why 👇 🍽️ 1. You have a 'Clean Your Plate Mentality' This mindset (leftover from childhood) encourages you to finish everything on your plate regardless of hunger cues, leading to overeating since you consume more food than your body needs. 🫵 2. You struggle to throw food away. Difficulty discarding food often results in eating leftovers or excess food to avoid waste, causing you to consume more than necessary. It's okay to put it away for tomorrow, and it's okay to throw it away. You're not single-handedly responsible for saving the planet. Just do your best. 🥺 3. You don't know how to cope with your feelings. Emotional eating is your only coping mechanism for managing stress, sadness, or boredom, leading to consuming food for comfort rather than hunger. You can find other compassionate ways to feel and process your feelings and resolve your issues. ⏳ 4. You always put your needs last. Prioritizing others over yourself can result in neglecting your own dietary needs and regular eating patterns, leading to irregular meals and overeating when you finally eat. If you are neurodivergent (ADHD, etc.), you may also need to work on putting some systems in place so you remember. ☕ 5. You aren't eating enough (have a diet mentality). Restrictive dieting in the name of fast weight loss can cause feelings of deprivation, which may lead to binge eating once willpower wanes or when finally allowing yourself to eat. 🪫 6. Your nervous system is shot (from all of the above) Chronic stress from dealing with all the above issues can increase cortisol levels, which is linked to cravings for high-fat, high-sugar foods and can lead to overeating as a way to self-soothe. 🌱 A Nourish dietitian can help you resolve your lifelong challenges with food. I specialize in disordered eating and have helped countless patients resolve their overeating and emotional eating tendencies with compassion. ➡️ ✨ Book an 'Explore Nourish' call with me to see if you're covered, and find the right dietitian for you: https://lnkd.in/gCnjm-Qi #bingeeatingdisorder #emotionaleating #highlysensitive #neurodivergent #intuitiveeating #dietmentality #overeating #disorderedeating

Reason 217 why I 🧡 working for Nourish ... I make my own schedule - so I can do all the things! Today, I spent the morning at the Oak Park Farmers Market talking about the power of plants & making this veggie-packed quinoa & black bean salad for my sometimes side gig w/Corewell Health. https://lnkd.in/gr5xnJg5
