From the battlefields of Afghanistan to the heart of Utah State University, Jacob Hunsaker’s journey is a testament to resilience, service, and a commitment to helping others. In 2010, as a combat engineer in the U.S. Army Reserve, Jacob faced the daunting task of searching for IEDs and roadside bombs. Amid the chaos, he recognized the importance of mental health, using talk therapy techniques with his team to help them cope with the intense challenges. This experience sparked a passion that led him back to Logan, Utah, where he pursued a career dedicated to both mental and physical well-being. Jacob earned his BA in Spanish (2013), a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy (2015), and later a BS in Nursing (2021) from USU, determined to integrate therapy with medical care. Balancing rigorous nursing preceptorships, a full-time job, and a growing family, he understands firsthand the sacrifices nursing students make. A scholarship during his last year helped him continue his journey, providing much-needed relief during financially difficult times. Inspired by Jacob’s story, USU students established the Jacob Hunsaker Hardship Nursing Fund to support those facing similar struggles. The fund is part of USU’s AggieFunded program, aimed at helping nursing students navigate the demanding coursework and clinical hours. Jacob, honored by this recognition, remains committed to giving back—through his practice, River Hollow Mental Health, where he mentors students and offers free mental health support to the community. Now pursuing a doctorate in nursing practice in psychiatric and mental health, Jacob is dedicated to providing holistic care throughout patients’ lives. His journey reminds us all of the power of compassion and the importance of supporting those who serve our communities. #AggieImpact https://lnkd.in/g_WFVtXJ

A Tradition of Aggie Blue and Fighting White: Aggie’s Enduring Love for USU Athletics As the leaves turn and a crisp breeze fills the air, Aggie pride thrives at Utah State University, and few embody this spirit like Clark Whitworth ’82. A lifelong fan, Clark’s passion for USU Athletics began in his childhood, attending games at the Spectrum with his family. That bond grew stronger during his time as a student, where he cheered from the front row at every game. Today, he continues that tradition as a season ticket holder, sharing the experience with his family—his daughter competed on the Aggies’ track and field team, while his son played football. Clark’s connection to USU goes beyond the stands. He’s a proud supporter of the USU Athletics Reach and Rise initiative, helping student-athletes thrive on and off the field. 'Aggie Athletics is made up of student-athletes, and that’s what our donations support,' he says. His commitment to giving back is matched by a belief in USU's mission and the impact of a Utah State education. Graduating with an accounting degree from the Jon M. Huntsman School of Business, Clark’s career took off at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. in New Orleans. He later returned to Utah, where he rose through the ranks at Deloitte & Touche and the Larry H. Miller Group of Companies, eventually retiring as CEO in 2019 after leading more than 11,000 employees. Now, as a university trustee and a proud father of five USU alumni, Clark reflects on the importance of giving back to the university that shaped his life. 'The Spectrum is unbelievable, and seeing everyone in the stadium doing the Scotsman is something special,' he shares. 'I’m proud to be an Aggie, and I’ll keep doing whatever I can to support this incredible institution.' For Clark, Utah State University is more than just his alma mater—it’s a legacy of excellence, community, and lifelong commitment. #AggieImpact #USUAlumni Full Story: https://lnkd.in/eFvnzahy
