We want to cordially invite you to attend the Redefining Work Systems Symposium, happening on Thursday, October 3rd, and Friday, October 4th: On Thursday, October 3rd, we will have a workshop at Oak Ridge Enhanced Technology and Training Center (ORETTC). The event is titled “Integration of Technology and People — a People-Centric Approach to Industry 4.0.” Our objective is to explore the rationale and methodology behind the integration of technology (Industry 4.0) with human elements (The Sawhney Model for Industry 5.0), aiming to bridge any existing gaps through the implementation of people-centric systems (People Development System), followed by the application of these systems. The agenda for the day is four blocks of 75 minutes, with breaks in between. The first block presents foundations and landscape. The second block is about the people development system. The third is Industry 4.0 and the Sawhney model. Lastly, examples of applications, demonstrations, and takeaways are provided. The workshop presenters are listed in the attached flyer. On Friday, October 4th, we are hosting keynote speakers at the University of Tennessee’s Student Union (on-campus). Ashleigh Walters will talk about her experience creating an employee-owned company. Isaac Mitchell will address his experience in healthcare with the application of lean systems. Mark Graban will speak about psychological safety as a basis for continuous improvement, Eric Lussier will share his expertise integrating people in lean problem-solving dynamics and the role of technology in it, and Bryan Terrill is an expert in design thinking with a focus on people. Likewise, the presenters are included in the attached document.
